A new video allegedly filmed moments before a fatal crash in Florida that left three women dead and another woman critically injured has surfaced online.
The Florida Highway Patrol said in a press release shared with PEOPLE that the single-vehicle crash involving a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee happened shortly after 3:00 a.m. EST on Sunday, March 30, on State Road 19 near St. Florian Lane.
The vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Shaykaylah Mathis, per WKMG-TV, was reportedly traveling northbound when investigators say it failed to take a left-hand curve. It then ran off the road and struck a pole before overturning several times.
The driver and all three passengers — Kaneisha Lewis, 32, Aqutavia Pew, 28, and a 26-year-old woman whose name has not been released, per WKMG-TV — were ejected from the vehicle.
Mathis, Lewis and Pew, all succumbed to their injuries while the 26-year-old woman remains in critical condition, per WKMG-TV.
A video showing compiled footage allegedly from their Facebook stories – believed to have been taken moments before the crash – shows a woman on the front passenger side seat smiling and dancing along to the music blasting through the car while holding a bottle of alcohol.
When asked by PEOPLE about the video, the Florida Highway Patrol said they do not have any further information to provide, as this is an active investigation.
At one point in the video, the passenger pans over to the driver, who is also seen dancing and singing as she holds her phone.
The video then cuts to a closer look at the passenger, who at that point takes the bottle of alcohol from the driver and films herself drinking from it.
She then switches the camera to give a closer look at the bottle and pans over to the road and the driver, who moments later, is again holding the bottle.
The video cuts again and the passenger zooms in on the dashboard, which shows that the vehicle is going 116 mph. One of the women could be heard saying “hit the dash” and “running red lights.”
