This past June, Dwyane shared a few photos on his Instagram Stories as he celebrated his daughter Zaya’s high school graduation.

In one video, the basketball star could be seen walking to his daughter and standing next to her so they could take a picture together. Zaya held an award while Wade smiled, laughed and hugged his daughter. “Head of the School,” the proud dad wrote across the photo.

He also included a photo of himself holding up his daughter’s diploma, writing, “We did it Joe!” across the photo. Another clip showed a close-up of Zaya’s award, which read, “2024-2025 Head of School’s Award” and “Zaya Wade.” Later, Dwyane included a video of his daughter walking into graduation.

Speaking to Harper Bazaar for their Icons for 2023 series, Zaya shared that her father influences her the most. “My dad is who truly inspires me the most,” she told the publication.

“Kids always tend to look up to their parents, but not only did I idolize him growing up and see him as a real person, I realize that he has played such an essential role in supporting me and the ways I choose to present myself to the world.”

“He’s been so supportive and my biggest advocate. He took the time and learned and grew. I want to have that same mentality going through anything in life,” said Zaya, who came out as transgender in 2020.
