Age isn’t keeping Dyan Cannon from having some fun!
The actress attended the 10th Annual Hollywood Beauty Awards on Sunday, April 6, where she opened up to PEOPLE about her dating prospects these days.
When asked if she’s dating right now, Cannon, 88, answered with an emphatic “of course.”
The Heaven Can Wait star noted that it’s “somebody very special,” before clarifying: “Several special [people]… I have friends with benefits, yes.”
Cannon also reflected on her past relationship with Johnny Carson. Last month, CBS Sunday News produced a special titled The Hidden Side of Johnny Carson, which highlighted the life of the TV legend and touched on the relationship between the two stars. It also looked back on Cannon’s appearance on his show.
At the event on Sunday, which recognizes talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for film, TV, music, the red carpet and editorial, Cannon told PEOPLE that she hasn’t stopped hearing about the special since.
“I’ve been hearing constantly about Johnny Carson,” the actress said. “It’s on a lot. They’re running it, running it, running it.”

Cannon said she’s particularly enjoying the attention that the TV special is receiving because she “rattled” Carson, who died in 2005 at age 79, when she was on his show.
“I rattled him, and I love that. We love it when we rattle men who aren’t usually rattled, don’t we?” Cannon shared, before confirming that the pair had kept their relationship secret when they dated. “He loved it. He loved it. We used to go to restaurants, and they’d shut down the entire restaurant for him.”
“He was a special man,” she added. “I’ve known a lot of special men. And there’s more to come.”
Aside from her film career, which includes Oscar-nominated roles in 1969’s Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice and 1978’s Heaven Can Wait, Cannon is also a filmmaker and star on stage. She’s also known for roles in TV series like Full Circle in the early ’60s and Ally McBeal in the late ’90s.
Additionally, the actress was in a high-profile marriage with Cary Grant from 1965 to 1968. The two welcomed one child together, daughter Jennifer Grant, born in 1966. Cannon later married lawyer-turned-real estate investor Stanley Fimberg in 1985, but they divorced in 1991.
