Elijah Wood may have tied the knot to Mette-Marie Kongsved!
During an episode of the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast published on Jan. 6, the Lord of the Rings actor, 43, said he is “beyond grateful” for his “wife” Mette-Marie Kongsved.
“I’m beyond grateful for my family and my kids, and my wife. Like, they are such an extension of me,” Wood told Michael Rosenbaum during his appearance.
“They are the most important people in my life,” he continued to the podcast host, who also referred to Wood’s longtime love as his “wife.”
TMZ reported that witnesses said the couple got married in Sweden on New Year’s Eve in what was described as an intimate ceremony with about 80 friends and family members.
PEOPLE has reached out to Wood’s representative for comment.
Wood and Kongsved have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. The notoriously private couple appeared to go public with their romance in January 2018 when they were spotted holding hands in Pasadena, California. Engagement rumors sparked the following year in July 2019 after Kongsved was photographed with a diamond ring on her lefthand finger.
Over the years, the pair have welcomed two children together, a son and a daughter. The Yellowjackets star had his second baby with Kongsved in 2022, he quietly revealed in his My Monday Morning profile for WSJ. Magazine in March 2023.
“We’ve got a 3-year-old son and a 14-month-old daughter, and she wakes us up pretty early. I like getting up early, I like starting the day,” he shared to the outlet at the time.

In the interview, Wood, whose Instagram account is private, also touched on his private nature.
“I wanted to be able to share photos that I didn’t necessarily want to share with the world,” he explained. “An account that’s public-facing would really change what I share.”
He added, “It’s not like I’m sharing anything that I wouldn’t want to go out, but I’m a relatively private person.”
