Ella Travolta Remembers ‘Most Beautiful’ Mom Kelly Preston in Mother’s Day Tribute Months Before 5th Anniversary of Her Death

Ella Travolta is remembering late mom Kelly Preston on Mother’s Day.

The actress and musician, 25, honored her mom with a series of sweet social media tributes to mark the annual holiday on Sunday, May 11.

“Happy Mother’s Day to the strongest, most beautiful, loving, funny, smart woman I know,” Ella wrote alongside a first photo of her mom. “I love you.”

She then shared a photograph of herself and Preston, accompanied by three red heart emojis, and concluded her tribute with a throwback image of her mom holding her when she was a baby.

Preston died at age 57 in 2020, two years after a breast cancer diagnosis. She and husband John Travolta shared three children total — daughter Ella and son Benjamin, 15, plus son Jett, who died at age 16 while on vacation with his family in 2009.

John, 71, remembered his late wife with a tribute of his own, writing alongside a photograph of himself, Preston and their kids, “Happy Mother’s Day Kelly! You did a great job!! We love you!”

Last year, Ella released her single “Little Bird” off of her EP Colors of Love, and PEOPLE had the exclusive premiere of its accompanying music video.

The star said her late parent inspired the track. “I definitely felt her watching over me,” she shared. “I knew that she was really proud of this whole process and of me.”

Shortly after Preston died in 2020, Ella wrote her a message on Instagram, which began, “I have never met anyone as courageous, strong, beautiful and loving as you.”

“Anyone who is lucky enough to have known you or to have ever been in your presence will agree that you have a glow and a light that never ceases to shine and that makes anyone around you feel instantly happy,” shecontinued. “Thank you for being there for me no matter what. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your help and thank you for making this world a better place.”
