Elon Musk’s Estranged Daughter Responds to His Transphobic Comment with Popular RuPaul’s Drag Race Quote

Elon Musk’s estranged daughter Vivian Wilson has responded to a transphobic social media comment from her father with a classic quote from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

On Saturday, March 22, Musk, 53, commented on a post from a fellow X user, writing, “My son, Xavier, died. He was killed by the woke mind virus. Now, the woke mind virus will die.”

Several hours later, Wilson, 20, posted a video response on TikTok and Instagram, which featured a screenshot of Musk’s comment, followed by Wilson lip-syncing the line, “I look pretty good for a dead b—-.”

The line was originally said by contestant Morgan McMichaels on season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and has since taken on a life of its own in memes and on social media.

Wilson came out as transgender through a post on her Instagram Stories in 2020. In an interview with Teen Vogue published on March 20, she shared that she did so after feeling like “staying in the closet” would “take me down a very destructive path.”

“It was 11:00 p.m., and I was like, I know for a fact I am trans. I had known for a few months at that point, and I was like, I cannot f—— do this anymore,” she recalled in the interview. “That was the point where puberty was really picking up and everything in my life was completely falling apart.”

“I was constantly having mental breakdowns in the middle of class. I could not get through days. I didn’t want to wake up, I didn’t want to do anything,” Wilson continued. “I just wanted to rot, pretty much.”

“It was like, I cannot do this anymore,” she added.

While Wilson told the outlet that her mother, Justine Wilson, was “very supportive” of her transition, she said she had not spoken to her father in “months” by the time she came out as transgender.

However, she still had to seek his parental permission to receive gender-affirming care.

For his part, Musk has said he was “tricked” into allowing Wilson to undergo transgender-related medical treatment when she was 16 — a claim that Wilson, who legally filed to change her name and gender in 2022 at age 18, denied in a July 2024 interview with NBC News.

“If you’re going to lie about me, like, blatantly to an audience of millions, I’m not just gonna let that slide,” she told the outlet at the time.

Wilson also told NBC News that Musk — who is also father to 13 other children with four different women — wasn’t there for much of her childhood.

“He was there, I want to say, maybe 10% of the time. That’s generous,” she said. “He had half custody, and he fully was not there. It was just a fact of life at the time, so I don’t think I realized just how abnormal of an experience it was.”
