Emily in Paris’ Camille Razat Breaks Silence on Decision to Leave Before Season 5

Camille Razat has “nothing but love” for her Emily in Paris costars and crew after deciding to leave the hit Netflix series behind before season 5 begins filming.

“After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris,” Razat, 31, began an Instagram post on Wednesday, April 23, that featured a gallery of candid shots with Lily Collins, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo and her other costars.

“It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories,” the French actress continued before thanking creator Darren Star, Netflix and series studio Paramount for “giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life and leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily In Paris world.”

Razat played Camille, a champagne heiress who quickly befriends Emily Cooper (Collins) after she moves to Paris. Camille was also the former girlfriend of Gabriel (Bravo), which made Emily’s life uncomfortable when she began an ill-fated relationship with Gabriel.

In season 4, Camille kept Gabriel convinced she was pregnant with his child. After Gabriel learned Camille wasn’t really pregnant, he made it clear they would never be together again. In the end, Camille, who tried to convince Gabriel to adopt a baby with her instead, decided to leave Paris.

“This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end,” Razat continued in her statement. “It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons.”

Razat went on to remind fans they can see her in two upcoming shows, Netflix’s Nero and Disney+’s The Lost Station Girls. She also launched her own production company, Tazar Productions, which is now developing its first feature film.

“I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way,” Razat concluded. “Thank you for the beautiful ride.”

Netflix announced on April 17 that production of Emily in Paris season 5 will begin in Rome in May before moving to Paris later this summer. Collins, Bravo, Park, Samuel Arnold, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Bruno Gouery, Lucien Laviscount, Thalia Besson, William Abadie and Eugenio Franceschini are all returning.

“Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” Star told Netflix’s Tudum last week. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”

Netflix has not set a premiere date for season 5, but the first four seasons are now available to stream.
