Eva Longoria Says Son Santiago, 7, Is ‘So Excited’ to Go to School for the First Time After Being Homeschooled

Eva Longoria’s son is ready to head back to school.

The actress, 50, appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark and shared that her 7-year-old son Santiago “Santi” has already returned to school — but this time, he’s going in person instead of being homeschooled.

“It’s back to school! Big step for your son, he’s in first grade,” host Mark Consuelos said to Longoria.

“Not only first grade, it’s the first school he’s been in, because he’s been home-schooled up until now,” Longoria shared. “He was really excited. He told me last year, ‘Mom, I want classmates.’ And every time I peep in on his homeschooling, he’s like, ‘Mom! Come in! You want to be my classmate?’ I’m like, ‘Okay, I think he needs classmates now.’”

Longoria explained that her son was “really nervous” to go to his first day of school and shares that he asked her to homeschool him again before going in.

“The first day was like, one hour and the parents got to stay. And he was clinging on to me like, I mean, I was his life-line,” joked Longoria. “I was like, ‘Honey,’ so we got to tour the school and everything. So the second day was kind of like the full day, and my husband and I went to go drop him off.”

Santi felt much more at home on the second day of school and went around to everyone at school to introduce his mom and dad to his teachers. Longoria went on to say that she’s already very involved with her son’s school.

“I already have volunteered for hot lunch, because you can go serve as a parent. By the way, I’m full-on school parent. I’m so excited. This is my first school too!” said Longoria. “‘Can I volunteer? Can I be on the PTA?’ They’re like, ‘Easy… easy…’ But they have good food. The thing that’s hard for him is all day. He’s gone all day! Do the kids go away all day?”

This past May, Longoria spoke with Byrdie and shared that after making her directorial debut with her movie Flamin’ Hot in 2023, she hopes to return to acting — but has found that becoming a mom to her son Santi has made her more picky about which jobs she wants to take.

“I definitely think more about what I want out in the world because my son is going to see it,” Longoria told the outlet of her son.

“I think about whether he’d be proud of something or might be embarrassed. Even with old sexy photoshoots, I think, ‘Oh god, he’s going to see this one day.'”
