I grew up in the Midwest in the 2000s, so Ugg boots and leggings were an unavoidable package deal.
As the years passed, however, my pants inevitably got baggier (hello, wide-leg jeans!) and my feet got bigger. So, I eventually had no choice but to abandon the two style staples — a shame considering how unbeatable they were in terms of warmth and comfort.
I’d forgotten all about my fashion glory days… until Jennifer Lawrence dusted off the iconic pairing while out in New York City last month. Suddenly, I was transported right back to my outfits from 2004, but with one key difference: Instead of pairing her Ugg boots with yoga pants from Victoria’s Secret (like I used to do), the actress opted for a trim-looking pair from Alo Yoga, a brand worn by the likes of Kendall Jenner and Katie Holmes.

Lawrence sported the Ugg Classic Short II Boots, which I used to own in tall and short variations, during her off-duty outing. I specifically remember my pairs being warmer than any other shoes I had in my closet — my feet would get so toasty, I’d have to take them off every so often. Plus, the chestnut color was basically a status symbol that proved you had style. I don’t think much has changed since I last wore mine, as this pair is also made with a sheepskin lining and has an identical silhouette.

Alo Yoga wasn’t on my radar when I was growing up, but I’m glad it is now. I wear my Scholar Hooded Sweater probably once a week, and the quality is still impeccable after two years of use. I don’t own any leggings from the brand, but if I were to grab a pair, these would be the first ones I’d pick up.
Not only are they the exact pair that J.Law wore, but these leggings also look much thicker than the flimsy styles that dominated my drawers years ago. What’s more, the fabric has a “subtle sheen” to it, according to the brand, which I think makes it appear less sporty and more dressy.

Along with additional pairs of black leggings, I also scoured the web for more must-buy Uggs. After all, if Lawrence has more than one pair (She wore the Ugg Classic Micro Boots previously!), why shouldn’t you?
