‘FBI International’ and ‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Stars React After CBS Cancels Both Shows

The stars of FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted are “sad” just like Us — and the FBI fanbase — after the spinoff was axed by CBS alongside FBI: Most Wanted on Tuesday, March 4.

“Of course I’m sad the show must come to an end, but I want to thank Wolf Entertainment and CBS for everything: in particular the incredible tour of Europe! We have memories to last us a lifetime!” Eva-Jane Willis, who plays Europol liaison Megan “Smitty” Garretson on FBI: International, told Us Weekly in a statement on Tuesday.

She explained, “Also, everyone needs to know how incredible our crew in Budapest are: our family away from home — I cannot thank you enough. And to the fans: you’re amazing!”

Willis, 40, teased, “Great episodes coming up so stick with us all the way to the finish line! We’re not done yet!”

FBI: Most Wanted star Keisha Castle-Hughes, meanwhile, also reacted to the news of her show’s cancellation, telling Us in a statement, “It’s been a true privilege to play Hana Gibson over six seasons” of the CBS procedural.

“Thanks to Wolf Films and to CBS, David Hudgins and Ken Girotti, for supporting an incredible run of the show. I will treasure the memories and the friendships built over my time on the series and the years spent,” she continued. “My deepest gratitude goes to the hardworking crews from New York. These are the people who have carried me through frigid winters and sweltering summers, early mornings and long days, and because of them it was never hard.”

Castle-Hughes also addressed the loyal viewers, sharing, “It’s bittersweet but we are invigorated and determined to close out Season 6 with hard work and love and give you the best season yet! This is for you!”

Us confirmed on Tuesday that FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International were cancelled ahead of the 2025-2026 TV season.

Most Wanted, which debuted in January 2020, will not be returning after its current sixth season. The series was originally led by Julian McMahon, who exited after season 3.

Dylan McDermott took over to lead the team as FBI SSA Remy Scott during season 4. (Variety reported that Most Wanted has “won” its time slot with every season 6 episode prior to cancellation.)

International, which premiered in September 2021, will end with its current fourth season, Us confirmed. The series had a lot of casting shake ups in recent years, including OG stars Heida Reed and Luke Kleintank exiting in 2024. (Kleintank left after the third season, while Reed departed during the season 3 premiere.)

Jesse Lee Soffer replaced Kleintank as the Fly Team lead for season 4, playing Wes Mitchell. His real-life friend Jay Hayden briefly joined the cast for a multi-episode arc, which ended in February.

Fans voiced their sadness over the news via social media as well. “FBI: Most Wanted winning its time slot every single episode this season, being the only one in the franchise with a lesbian character, and a show that’s had Native American AND Māori representation … I hate this from the bottom of my heart,” one fan wrote via X after news broke on Tuesday.

Another user tweeted, “Guys I’m out” after reading about both shows’ fates.

“SHAME on you, @CBS! Cancel FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International?! Seriously?!” a third user wrote via X. “Two great series, thrilling investigations, a loyal audience… and you just throw them out?! Absurd and disrespectful decision! 🤬 #SaveFBIMostWanted #SaveFBIInternational.”

A fourth fan wondered what the cancellations will do for the crossover connection between FBI: Most Wanted’s Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten) and FBI’s Stuart Scola (John Boyd). The TV couple started a romance on FBI before Nina jumped over to Most Wanted for season 5.

“Oh my god you what! Not FBI: Most Wanted what about Nina and Scola can’t stop that,” a user tweeted with a crying face emoji.

More users pointed out how “really sad” it is to see the spinoffs come to an end. “It’s sad to see two shows with good viewership being discarded like this,” one person wrote via X.

While Most Wanted has won its time slot all season, International has consistently won its time slot or come in second this season, according to Variety.

“NBC, Peacock some one [sic] please pick up FBI Inter[national] and Most Wanted PLEASE,” a different user wrote via X alongside a praying mouse gif.

Another fan agreed, writing, “Love watching these shows. I hope another network picks these shows up.”

All good things must come to an end, even when it comes to TV. Over the years, many television stars have suddenly left their roles — while others have been cut from a series without much notice. Anna Faris announced in September 2020 that she was leaving CBS’ Mom after starring as the lead character […]

“These shows are great and I guess it’s time to quit watching CBS,” a frustrated viewer wrote via X. “They’re going to cut these great shows out. They need to think about it.”

While many fans voiced their issues with FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International abruptly ending, the flagship series FBI is safe. FBI was renewed in April 2024 for three more seasons, keeping it on air through season 9.

FBI’s latest spinoff, FBI: CIA, was announced in January and is currently in development. The newest drama will be about “A dedicated, strait-laced FBI agent and a street-smart CIA agent are part of a new, clandestine task force charged with solving and preventing domestic terrorism in and around New York City,” per the logline.

FBI, FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted airs on CBS Tuesdays at 8 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET.
