Mia Sara stepped out in style for a rare red carpet appearance for her new movie after taking a hiatus in 2013.
Sara, 57, attended the Los Angeles premiere of her film The Life of Chuck on Monday, June 2. The actress stunned in a black wrap top and navy pencil skirt.
In addition to walking the red carpet solo, Sara also posed for multiple group shots with her costars. The Life of Chuck, which was helmed by Mike Flanagan, also stars Tom Hiddleston, Benjamin Pajak, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Hamill, Kate Siegel, Karen Gillan, Carl Lumbly, Annalise Bass and more.
Sara got her start appearing on the soap opera All My Children. However, she is best known for her breakout role in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, where she starred opposite Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck. Sara played Ferris’ (Broderick) girlfriend, Sloane Peterson.

Following her role in the classic comedy, Sara went on to star in the 1987 miniseries Queenie. She appeared in 1994’s Timecop which earned her a Saturn Award. Sara also played Dr. Harleen Quinzel — also known as Harley Quinn — in the 2002 DC series Birds of Prey.
In 2013, Sara decided to step out of the spotlight and take a break from acting. During that time, Sara pursued her passion for writing. She was featured in a variety of literary journals including The Superstition Review, Helix, The Summerset Review, PANK, The Write Room and more.
More than a decade later, Sara paused her acting hiatus to join The Life of Chuck. The film, which is based on a novella written by Stephen King, follows the life events of Charles “Chuck” Krantz (Hiddleston) as it is told in reverse chronological order. Sara plays Chuck’s grandmother Sarah and she primarily worked with Pajak and Jacob Tremblay — who portray the younger versions of Chuck — and Hamil, who plays her husband.
Sara revealed that she was inspired to give acting another go after having the desire to work with Flanagan on a project — especially when she and husband Brian Henson became big “fans” of his 2021 Netflix horror miniseries Midnight Mass.
“We met socially, he and the magnificent Kate Siegel, and he just said, ‘Well, don’t you ever really want to work again?’ ” Sara said in an interview with People published on Tuesday, June 3. “And I said, ‘Oh, I don’t know.’ He said, ‘Well, what if I offered you something?’ I said, ‘Well, okay, if you offer me something, I’ll do it.’”
