Katie-Louise tells PEOPLE she spent months tracking down the perfect boots so her flower girl could share a special moment walking down the aisle

It was a quiet, joyful moment tucked into the excitement of a wedding morning, but for one bride, it became the detail that meant everything. When her flower girl realized they were wearing matching boots, her face lit up in a way that stopped the day in its tracks.
“My flower girl is my niece, and she’s the first niece, granddaughter and daughter in the family, so she’s always been ‘one of the girls,’ ” Katie-Louise tells PEOPLE. She explains that including her in every part of life made it only natural to make her feel just as special on such an important day.
The moment was captured in a now widely shared TikTok, where viewers watched the little girl’s reaction unfold in real time. Long before that moment, the boots had already held significance for the bride. Katie-Louise shares that she bought her Dr Martens Glitter Molly boots back in 2018 while working for the company, saving them with the intention of one day wearing them down the aisle.
Finding a matching pair for her niece, however, proved far more complicated than expected. The original glitter boots were no longer sold, and children’s versions had also disappeared, leaving her searching for an alternative that could still capture the same feeling.
“I searched and searched for something similar but could only find glitter boots in other colours and never white,” she says. Eventually, she settled on a simple white pair and swapped in ribbon laces so they would mirror her own, creating a meaningful match.
By the time the wedding day arrived, she had been holding onto the surprise for months. She admits that keeping it a secret wasn’t easy, especially knowing how much the gesture would mean.

“I’m terrible at keeping secrets, and I’d been holding on to this surprise for months,” she shares. Seeing her niece’s reaction, she adds, felt like “the cherry on top of a perfect wedding morning.”
Their bond, she explains, goes far beyond the wedding day itself. From shared interests like Harry Potter and anything spooky to a love of adventure, the two have built a connection that feels more like best friends than aunt and niece.

“She is my little bestie,” Katie-Louise says. She adds that making her feel like “the star of the show” was just as important as any other part of her bridal party.
That closeness was clear not only to family and guests but also to the thousands of people who later watched the moment online. The video quickly struck an emotional chord, with viewers drawn to the genuine joy between the pair.
“I was blown away by the response to the video,” she says. She adds that she’s grateful such a personal moment could resonate so widely and bring joy to others who watched it unfold.
