Frankie Valli is going through some “tough times.”
In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, a representative for the 92-year-old “Grease” singer said that Valli is “getting through” a difficult period — and clarified whether he has retired after he canceled the rest of The Four Seasons’ farewell tour dates in 2026 due to health reasons.
In the Aug. 15 statement, the rep said Valli has “had some tough times, but he’s getting through them, and he’s improving. He is looking forward to being back on the road, and he is not retired.”
The update on Valli’s career and health comes amid fan concern for the singer in the wake of the tour cancellation in May and after Page Six published photos on Aug. 10 of Valli being spotted for the first time in over two months.

The “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” singer announced on May 29 that he and the rest of The Four Seasons would not be continuing their The Last Encores farewell tour for the remainder of the year.
“I’m so sorry to disappoint the folks who have purchased tickets to my shows, but I have decided to take the rest of the year off from touring to focus on my health,” he told fans on Instagram at the time.
“I’m looking forward to getting healthy and seeing you all again soon. Thank you for all your good wishes,” he concluded the announcement.

At the time, Valli’s rep told Variety in a statement that the musician decided to cancel the shows instead of rescheduling them so that his fans with tickets would not be stuck in limbo.
“Promoters want to prolong things and not give people their money back, but he needs to not keep rescheduling these shows,” the rep said.
Valli, the rep continued, “realized he needed to take a break and get his health in order, and that is the true issue — he wants to get better without prolonging, through the rescheduling process, the pain of people who’ve bought these tickets.”

He has since shared several more updates on Instagram, including an Aug. 14 post shutting down rumors he is giving up performing amid his health struggles. The rumors were fueled by a statement shared by Valli’s brother, Bobby, which he later walked back on.
“In spite of what you might have heard, I am not retired. – Frankie,” he wrote.
Speculation about the future of Valli’s career previously arose in 2024. At the time, the nonagenarian told PEOPLE that he intends to continue performing for as long as he can — a sentiment he has since echoed in several social media posts.
“I know there has been a lot of stuff on the internet about me lately so I wanted to clear the air,” he said in a statement at the time. “I am blessed to be 90 years old and still be doing what I love to do and as long as I am able, and audiences want to come see me, I am going to be out there performing as I always.”
“I absolutely love what I do,” he continued. “And I know we put on a great show because our fans are still coming out in force and the show still rocks.”
In a June Instagram post, he shared a similar sentiment, writing, “The stage has always been home. Over 60 years of performing, and the energy never changed.”
