Gabi Elnicki knew on The Bachelor that Zach Shallcross was not The One for her — and now she can see why he and Kaity Biggar made the perfect match.
“I actually realized when I was there that he was not my person,” Gabi, 27, admitted on the Monday, March 10, episode of the “Almost Famous” podcast. “But when I got back, I was like, ‘Thank god.’ No offense to him. Him and Kaity are perfect together.”
Gabi said that she “totally” understands Zach, 28, and Kaity, 30 — who ultimately got engaged in the 2023 season 27 finale — as a couple.
“Being so close with Kaity, I get it much more now,” Gabi said. “Just me, to be honest with you, I’m, like, not probably nice enough. I don’t think he could have handled me because I’m sassy. Kaity is very sweet and she’s just a nurse. I know myself, I’m a little feisty. I don’t think that we would have been compatible in the long run. Like, I’m really kind and really sweet but I pick at people as a joke. Like, I’m very sarcastic and I just don’t know if that would have landed well.”
Gabi gushed that she’s “so happy” for Kaity and her relationship with Zach — who she thinks has “changed” since his stint as the lead of the ABC reality show.
“We honestly see Zach the Bachelor as a totally different person than her Zac that she has now. I see Kaity a lot, and just hearing about their relationship, it’s totally different and I really think it’s for the best. They’re very happy,” Gabi said. “I think he’s changed as a person since the show, or at least from what Kaity and I’s conversation have been. I think everyone has. I mean, you’re in this bubble and he was having to be the Bachelor so I’m sure that comes with so much pressure. Everything has worked out the way that it was supposed to.”
Since her split from Zach, Gabi has moved on with Zach Espinosa — her friend from Houston that encouraged her to find love on The Bachelor.
“He was like, ‘This is going to be really good for you. You really can’t lose anything. If you come back, you could possibly find someone. And if not, think about all of the people that will see you, and then you will find someone,’” she recalled, adding that he was “really just such a supportive friend through it.”

After The Bachelor, the pair went out for dinner and Gabi realized she had feelings for Espinosa and “one thing led to another.” The couple have now been together for nearly two years.
As for whether she thinks she’s now found The One in Espinosa, Gabi gushed, “Definitely. I don’t really see myself with anyone else. I feel like this is just a really good, healthy relationship.”
