At this point, Gayle King is like a walking ad for Sneex!
The 70-year-old journalist broke out her unbelievably comfortable high-heel sneakers yet again — not just once or twice, but three times within the span of a week. On June 12, she set out for a Broadway play in The Blake Hy-Heel Sneakers, while just a day later, on June 13, she hit the red carpet in The Icon shoes. Then on June 16, she finished off her Sneex streak at the F1 premiere in the same $545 style as before, just in black and white.
Are we surprised? Not in the slightest. When women in their 40s, 60s, and 70s keep wearing them (including Reese Witherspoon, Kathy Bates, and even my mother), the high-heel sneakers can’t be anything but comfortable. Plus, King is practically the reason Oprah put them on her 2024 Favorite Things List!

King has also previously been spotted in The Tepper Hy-Heel Sneakers, meaning she’s worn every style that the brand offers. There are only minor differences across all three — The Icon has one thick strap, while The Tepper and The Blake have one or two thin ones, respectively — but they’re all equipped with the same features, which is really why the sneakers are so comfortable.
Wondering what those are exactly? The shoe’s weight is more evenly distributed, so neither your heels nor toes will be putting in all the work. Your toes aren’t going to be squished and blistered, either, thanks to a wide, pinky toe-friendly toe box. Sneex also finessed the design and “closed the gap most heels have between your foot and sole [so] it feels like a hug,” per the brand.

The sighting also comes at a good time. Sneex just released three new colors — Retro, Poppy, and Candy — earlier this week, which are bright and fun and bound to be incredibly wanted for summer. (The brand has a track record of selling out, so if you like what you see, it’s best to pull the trigger sooner, rather than later!)
It’s time to stop putting beauty ahead of comfort when there are shoes like Sneex that are both. Head to the brand to shop Gayle King’s shoes, then keep scrolling to see more styles.
