George Clooney gave a sweet update on his and Amal Clooney’s 8-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.
George, 64, opened up about parenting the children alongside wife Amal, 47, at the 2025 Tony Awards Sunday, June 8. “They want to see Taylor Swift,” the actor told E! News. The funniest part is that they have no idea of references. Robert DeNiro will be at the house and they’re like ‘Who’s that?’ They don’t care.”
He then revealed that, despite their lack of knowledge of film legends, both Ella and Alexander are big fans of Wicked. “They’re looking forward to the second part,” he told the outlet.
George, who was nominated for Best Actor for his leading role as the late Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck, credited Amal for her support during his Broadway run. “I have this incredible partner who I couldn’t be more proud of,” he said. “She’s the bravest human being I’ve ever met in my life. I am deeply proud of her and the fact that she’s in any way proud of me, if just, I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
George wore a classic black tux on the carpet, while Amal stunned in a white corseted Tamara Ralph gown shimmering in layers of pearls.
Good Night, and Good Luck was George’s Broadway debut. The play, which George helped adapt for the stage, is based on the 2005 film of the same name, in which he also starred — but in a different role as producer Fred W. Friendly.
The play recounts the legendary moment when CBS News journalist Edward R. Murrow uncovered Senator Joseph McCarthy’s corruption. David Strathairn, who played Murrow in the film, earned an Oscar nomination for the part in 2006.

Clooney was partly inspired to take on the role by his father Nick Clooney’s work as a journalist.
“It seemed like a good time to remind ourselves how important journalism is to all of us and what a terrible state the country would be in without the Fourth Estate,” Clooney told Vulture. “Also, I think it’s a nice time to remind ourselves of us at our best—when we stood up to power and people did something very brave and unselfish.”
