NEED TO KNOW
- Daniel Susac recorded his first MLB hit during his debut with the San Francisco Giants
- Cameras caught his young nephew’s emotional reaction in the stands, which quickly went viral
- The moment resonated with fans, and even Susac’s family joked the child needed “an agent”
When Daniel Susac stepped onto the field for his MLB debut, all eyes were on him.
But as the milestone unfolded, attention quickly shifted elsewhere.
On April 2, the San Francisco Giants rookie, 24, recorded his first hit against the New York Mets — a major moment in his long-awaited debut — prompting cameras to pan to his family in the crowd.
There, his young nephew Chuck was seen crying and screaming with emotion as his dad, Susac’s middle brother Matt, held him in his arms and jumped up and down in celebration. At one point, Chuck’s mom stepped in to help calm him.
The emotional reaction quickly became the moment fans couldn’t stop watching.
“We’re all saying in our family group chat right now we have to get that kid an agent,” Susac’s fiancée, Drew Koltko, told MLB, referring to Chuck.

Beyond Chuck’s now-viral reaction, the moment underscored just how much the milestone meant — not only for Susac, but for the family who had watched him work toward it for years.
For Susac, that moment was years in the making.
The former first-round draft pick has spent years working his way up to the majors, developing into one of the Giants’ top catching prospects before finally earning his shot on the big league stage.
That journey made the reaction from the stands — especially from family — all the more powerful.
Along with Matt, his older brother, Andrew Susac, is a six-year Major Leaguer who previously played catcher for the Giants, adding another layer of significance to the night.

And as the clip continued to gain traction online, even Susac’s own family leaned into the attention.
Back in the locker room after the game, Susac also weighed in on the now-viral moment.
"I did [see the video]," he said in a video KNBR posted on X. "I just went out there. My middle brother Matt told me he went viral for holding his baby when I got my first hit, moving him all around and he's all paranoid about it right now."
"He was excited to see me though, my nephew," the baseball player added. "But it was cool."
