Ginny and Georgia’s Scott Porter Teases How Georgia, Paul’s Story Will ‘Continue’ After Baby Twist

Despite ending their marriage ahead of season 4, Georgia and Paul’s story isn’t over on Ginny & Georgia — especially after that pregnancy love triangle twist.

During the third season, which premiered on Thursday, June 5, Paul (Scott Porter) and Georgia (Brianne Howey) call it quits after she lied about her murderous past — and pretended she was pregnant to get him to stay. But in a twist of irony, Georgia ended the season realizing she is actually expecting a baby… she doesn’t know if Paul or Joe (Raymond Ablack) is the father.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Porter, 45, confirmed that Georgia and Paul’s story will continue in season 4, adding, “Yes. [Her ex] Gil is going to prison for good now. [Georgia’s son] Austin is still there and I think Paul and Austin have a very special relationship.”

Porter was looking forward to seeing the former couple’s new normal.

It’s a good thing Ginny & Georgia has already been renewed for season 4 because that pregnancy twist — and the paternity drama — is just getting started. The hit Netflix series, which premiered in 2021, follows a young single mother named Georgia (Brianne Howey) who moved her family to Wellsbury, Massachusetts, after running away […]

“I love that relationship and I would love to see that continue. I think that Paul has a desire to still be involved in Austin’s life — even if he’s not 100 percent involved in the family. Georgia’s still a massive force in his town of Wellsbury. They’re going to cross paths and she’s definitely going to be involved in the goings on,” he teased. “So Paul is going to have to face her.”

Season 3 of the hit Netflix series showed Paul’s betrayal after he realized how much Georgia kept from him. It led to a fight ,where Paul hit the wall above Georgia’s head and triggered her PTSD from past relationships where she dealt with abuse.

Porter reflected on the tense moment — and revealed whether Paul would have actually stood by Georgia if she told him about her past earlier.

“That’s the most heartbreaking thing Paul says in that scene, ‘If you just would’ve told me I could have protected us.’ And he says, ‘I could have protected us but you never told me.’ He’s very reticent to use his family’s power at all. He wants to do things his own way. He doesn’t want to lean on his parents,” Porter detailed. “You saw it with the wedding and with the lawyer he was paying for out of his own pocket. Paul goes broke this season paying for that lawyer to protect Georgia. But you can’t protect yourself from things you can’t see coming.”

The actor stood by the belief that Paul wouldn’t have been spooked by Georgia’s truth, saying, “If she just would’ve been honest with him, he would’ve been able to see these things coming. Maybe he would’ve even gone back to his family and said, ‘I need you to make a bunch of this go away.’ Paul might have that kind of power. But her resistance to tell him that led to his inability to protect her.”

Porter continued: “People are mad because he leaves her at her lowest and I completely get it. In the show, it’s a very fast engagement and very fast marriage. But their entire relationship has been built on lies. But he never thought it would be about something like that. So personal. It was always about her past. This was about the two of them in the present and he just couldn’t do it anymore.”

While Georgia and Paul ended on a bad note, there is hope they could get to a better place. “Maybe we could get back to a little bit more of that wit and that banter where they’re light with each other on the surface,” he noted. “But I think that would be such a fun thing to do in season 4. They’re definitely not out of each other’s lives for good.”

Porter added: “I don’t know whose baby it is. I don’t know what happens with the baby. I don’t know anything happening in season 4 but I think that Paul and Georgia dynamic will still exist.”

An emotional roller-coaster. From Riverdale‘s Cheryl and Toni to Nancy Drew‘s Nancy and Ace, fans have watched their favorite couples break hearts with some devastating splits. Riverdale, which premiered in 2017, originally introduced Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) as a grieving sister trying to deal with the death of her twin brother Jason (Trevor Stines). After striking […]

There is still that pregnancy reveal to talk about though. According to Porter, the cast “didn’t even know about the” reveal until the table read.

“We were reading the script and at the very end there is the addendum of her drinking the milk. The words, ‘Mom, you only drink milk when you’re pregnant’ was not in the script. That was a late add,” Porter revealed to Us. “So I think all of us — even till the last moment — didn’t even know necessarily what all of it meant. That’s just how it is on the show. We got to keep everything buttoned up and everything under wraps so I know zero about what’s going to happen.”

Porter does have a wishlist though — and that includes scenes with Ablack.

“My favorite parts of season 3 were at Blue Farm and both of them are with Joe and with Zion. Joe and Paul had a very special relationship this season where They don’t really know everything each other are into and they’re a level of involvement with Georgia,” he shared. “They know each other but not truly. So it’s almost like telling a stranger on vacation stuff about your life that you would never tell your friends back home. Paul opens up with Joe that way and I love it.”

Ginny & Georgia is currently streaming on Netflix.
