- In a video posted to social media, Dianna Agron showed off what appeared to be a new French accent
- The accent sparked online debate, with many fans questioning where the accent came from as Agron was born in Georgia and raised in Texas and California
- Other users defended the Glee alum and noted that she may have developed an accent after spending time with her partner, Harold Ancart, in Europe
Dianna Agron’s new accent is getting a few double takes.
After the Glee alum, 39, got ready for a Miu Miu event in an Instagram video posted by Vanity Fair, fans were quick to point out how Agron’s vocal inflections seemed to have suddenly changed.
The actress kicked off the video by speaking in French, and continued to speak with a slight accent throughout the clip.
The interview sparked some debate in the comments with one user comparing her to a “girl who spent a semester in Paris” despite being born in Georgia and raised in Texas and California.
“Me when I pick a new personality every morning,” another person wrote while someone else asked, “Why is she speaking like that 👀.”
“Yall, just let people disappear and then reappear with inexplicable accents!! We are dealing with so much just let this one slide ok honestly,” one fan commented.
Agron was also compared to Hilaria Baldwin and the 2020 controversy over her accent. Social media users alleged that Baldwin was fabricating her Spanish roots when she was actually born in Boston, Massachusetts and her birth name is Hilary.
“It’s giving Hilaria,” one user wrote under the outlet’s post.
Other users compared her to actress Carrie Mulligan “doing a midcentury American accent,” Schitt’s Creek character Moira Rose (played by Catherine O’Hara) and Padma Lakshmi.
“Did she borrow Padma Lakshmi’s voice?” asked one user, as another simply wrote: “Moira Rose?”
But some fans were quick to defend the actress and offered explanations as to why Agron’s voice has changed.
“Her partner has a London accent so naturally she picks up some of that transatlantic tone,” a fan wrote, referring to her boyfriend, Harold Ancart. “It’s adorable.”
“Not too much on my girl! 😭I don’t think she’s lived here in the states for some years now. Maybe that’s why?!?” one user suggested.
