Good Morning America Moving to New Studio After 25 Years

It’s time to say Good Morning America from lower Manhattan.

After 25 years, the Good Morning America cast and crew including news anchors Robin Roberts, 64, Michael Strahan, 53, George Stephanopoulos, 64, are closing the chapter on their Times Square studio and taking the show downtown to Hudson Square.

The June 9th broadcast announced that this week is “the ultimate countdown as we say goodbye to our beloved home of 25 years.”

For many of the show’s staff and anchors, entering the ABC studios in Times Square was a pivotal moment in their careers.

“I remember thinking, I’m a little girl from Mississippi and I’m working at Times Square,” Robin, who joined as a co-anchor in 2005, reflected in one of a series of Instagram posts shared to the show’s account. “It’s just so majestic.”

Michael, too, reflected on his first time in the studio, which enjoys the backdrop of Times Square’s billboards and energy.

“The bright lights, the personality, the energy, how intimidated I was when I walked through the door,” the former NFL star reminisced. “A lot of thoughts were going through my mind.”
