Reddit users argue that a marriage is doomed if the groom confesses this one thing.
In a post on the platform’s “Wedding Shaming” forum, a guest recalled the time they attended a wedding where the groom said something he shouldn’t have.
“The groom was speaking and he happened to mention that his new bride wasn’t his ‘physical type,’ ” the wedding guest recalled.
“People around us started whispering and even I thought I had misheard,” they continued. “I couldn’t believe it.”
The guest and their date figured that the groom must have been “so nervous” to have blurted out such “unfiltered comments that should have just stayed in his brain.”
Although it’s unclear how the bride reacted, or exactly at what point the groom made the remark, users on the forum reasoned that there would never be an appropriate time to make such a harsh personal comment, especially in public or on your wedding day.
Many Redditors went so far as to say that if an individual isn’t physically attracted to their partner, then their relationship will fail. Several commenters used their own past relationships as examples.
“My ex-husband used to tell me several times I was not his type,” one person wrote, with another replying, “And that’s why he’s your ex!”

“I was thin enough for my ex, but he used to tell me he’d leave if I ever got fat. Had a baby, and he left. I’m better off,” another person said.
“My ex-fiancé too!” someone else agreed. “Also said such gems as ‘I wouldn’t want to be seen on a beach with you’ and ‘You’re not going to find anyone better than me.’ ”
The original poster alluded that there might be some truth to this theory, updating the forum in a comment about the bride and groom’s fate after the wedding: “They are divorced now.”
