He Lured Her on OnlyFans, Killed Her with a Hammer, Then Dismembered Her — All Because She Wanted to Be with Her Son

An Italian banker’s prison sentence has been upgraded to life behind bars for the 2022 killing of a model he met on OnlyFans after reportedly becoming upset she wanted to move across the country to be with her 6-year-old son.

Davide Fontana, 45, was resentenced to life in prison in May after being found guilty in 2023 of killing 26-year-old Carol Maltesi in January 2022, leaving her young son without a mother, according to La Stampa.

The Italian newspaper reported that Fontana killed Maltesi while they were filming a sexual video together that he arranged using a fake profile to communicate with her on OnlyFans. Fontana was found guilty of hitting the 26-year-old mother with a hammer 13 times and stabbing her in the throat while she was tied up.

The banker then cut Maltesi’s body up into pieces and stored her remains for about two months in a freezer that he purchased on Amazon, according to La Stampa. Italian outlet L’Unione Sarda reported that Fontana initially tried to burn the pieces of Maltesi’s body at a rental home but couldn’t do so, later placing the body parts in plastic bags and tossing them off a cliff in Paline di Borno, a northern Italian town about two hours northwest of Milan.

While Maltesi remained missing, the Italian outlet Il Messaggero reports that Fontana impersonated her on the phone, telling her relatives and friends that she was due home soon and had been traveling.

Maltesi’s remains were eventually discovered in Paline di Borno on March 21, 2022, more than two months after she was killed on January 11, 2022, according to L’Unione Sarda.

Fontana was initially sentenced to 30 years in prison in June 2023 for aggravated voluntary homicide, as well as suppression and concealment of a corpse, according to La Stampa. However, La Stampa and L’Unione Sarda reported that a Court of Appeal reviewed the murder case and opted to resentence Fontana to life in prison after considering the premeditation involved in the murder plot.

Prosecutors said Fontana became upset with Maltesi after learning she had plans to move to Veneto, roughly 250 kilometers east of Milan, to be with her son, according to the outlets.

Fontana reportedly addressed Maltesi’s son, who is now 8 years old, and Maltesi’s parents during his resentencing hearing in May, according to Il Messaggero.

“I would like to apologize again to everyone, especially to Carol’s parents and to the son,” Fontana said, according to an English translation of the local report. “I don’t know if I will ever be forgiven for what I have done. I would really give my life to go back.”

According to the outlet, Fontana has paid €39,000 to Maltesi’s young son as part of a court-ordered compensation. The outlet reported that days after his mother’s murder, Maltesi’s son had been heard telling friends at school that his biggest fear was one day not being able to remember his mother’s face.
