Heather Rae El Moussa Takes 2-Year-Old Son Tristan on His First Grocery Store Visit

Heather Rae El Moussa’s son is still experiencing firsts!

On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the HGTV star, 38, shared a video on Instagram of 2-year-old Tristan’s first time shopping in-person at a supermarket. Heather, who shares her son with husband Tarek El Moussa, documented their experience going around the store as she pointed out some of her favorite items to buy.

In the clip, the toddler can be seen sitting inside of the shopping cart looking around the store, pointing at things he wanted and grabbing items off the shelf. “Tristan’s first grocery trip and my first since 2020… 😂 where are my other Instacart girlies at?!” she wrote in the caption.

In addition to Tristan, Tarek is a father of two children, son Brayden and daughter Taylor, with ex-wife  Christina Haack. He first became a father in 2010 with the birth of his daughter. Five years later, the couple’s family expanded with the birth of their son. The HGTV stars split in 2016 (and finalized their divorce in 2018), but Tarek and Haack have remained devoted co-parents to their kids.

In September, the Selling Sunset star — who married Tarek in 2021 and gave birth to Tristan in January 2023 — shared a photo of their blended family as they celebrated her 38th birthday.

In the Instagram snap, Heather — in a beige tank top with a white cardigan — could be seen sitting at the center of a circular table with Haack and her boyfriend, Christopher Larocca, on one side of her while Tristan, Tarek, Brayden, and Haack’s son, Hudson, 6, sat along the other side. As for Taylor, she left her seat at the front of the table and could be seen standing behind her step-mom, posing with a hand on her shoulder as her friends stood beside her.

“Feeling so loved this birthday ✨ Spent the whole day surrounded by the people I love most 💕 My heart couldn’t be more full,” Heather captioned the sweet photo. “P.S. Tristan’s reaction to the ‘new addition’ at dinner was priceless 😂👀👀,” she also joked, highlighting her son looking up at Taylor’s friend in the photo instead of smiling at the camera.

The blended family often gets together to celebrate their children’s milestones. In August, Heather, Tarek and Haack celebrated Brayden’s first day of school and Tristan’s first day at pre-school. The family also came together to celebrate the Easter holidays in April, though Taylor was notably missing from several of the snaps. Heather explained that while “the whole crew” was present for the Easter celebration, her stepdaughter did not “want to be pictured.”

While the co-parents didn’t always get along, they’ve since left their rocky past behind them and even starred together on the hit HGTV show, The Flip Off. The realtor previously told PEOPLE in 2022 that the trio have “definitely had some ups and downs,” but ultimately they realized the children were the “most important thing.”

“I think she realized how much I love the kids and that they are number one to me, over anything,” Heather said. “So any drama aside, the kids are the most important thing to all of us.”

The proud stepmom marked her stepdaughter’s birthday by sharing a collection of photos of the teen over the years, including a recent heartfelt family snap with Tarek. In September, Heather shared a snap of herself, Tarek and Taylor posing together. Both Tarek and Heather wore black in the photo, flanking the birthday girl who opted for a bright blue dress with sneakers.

A second photo showed Taylor in a bright pink dress hugging Heather, who wore a white dress, as they both sat down. This was followed up by another sweet family snap of Taylor cuddling on the couch with Tristan. “Beautiful Taylor, happy 15th birthday!!,” Heather captioned the post. “I can’t even believe you are 15! To even say that is crazy. I love you so much.”
