HGTV’s Battle on the Beach Canceled After 4 Seasons, Alison Victoria Says

NEED TO KNOW

  • Battle on the Beach has allegedly become the fifth HGTV series to get canceled by the network in recent weeks
  • Other affected shows allegedly include Farmhouse Fixer, Married to Real Estate, Izzy Does It and Bargain Block
  • HGTV reps did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment

HGTV has seemingly canceled another show after several other fan favorite series have left the network in recent weeks.

This week, Battle on the Beach co-host Alison Victoria told her Pap Smear Podcast listeners that a fifth season will not be happening.

“I did a show called Battle on the Beach. I love that show. It was so fun and funny. And then all of a sudden, I watched the episode, I’m like, ‘Well, where’d all that [great content] go?’ I get it, it’s a lot of content to try to put into 42 minutes, but where is it? Where’s the great editing?” Victoria, 43, told her guest Retta on the Tuesday, July 1 episode.

“You’ll lose a show that way. I truly believe that,” she said before dropping major news.

Battle on the Beach did not get picked back up, which is sad, because it was like adult spring break,” she continued.

Reps for HGTV did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Victoria co-hosted the home design competition series with Taniya Nayak, 52, and Ty Pennington, 60.

Following the news of the alleged Battle on the Beach cancellation, Nayak and Victoria still remain close. The ladies spent their Fourth of July together, each sharing a photo of them smiling while sitting on logs at the beach.

In the series, three teams of amateur house flippers compete to renovate identical beachfront properties.

Ahead of Victoria’s statement, four popular shows were reportedly canceled on HGTV within a week: Jonathan Knight’s Farmhouse Fixer, Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson’s Married to Real Estate, Izzy Battres’s Izzy Does It and Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas’s Bargain Block.

The stars of the shows are the ones who shared the news via social media in late June, however, HGTV has not responded to PEOPLE’s previous requests for comment.

Before Battle on the Beach was allegedly axed, Pennington shared his support for his former HGTV family.

“You know, in general I thought I had [a] decent gauge about what TV executives wanted and the last few years have completely shattered that. Seriously shocked to hear this!,” the Rock the Block host wrote on Sherrod and Jackson’s post.

In a joint statement from the couple, they said they received the “unexpected” news “after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean.”

While they added they would have “more to say” soon, Bynum unloaded his thoughts on Instagram.

“The last six months have been a pretty wild journey. Our entire business and lives have been put through the ringer at the hands of a giant corporation, yet we persist lol,” he wrote. He went on to say that “Tv is full of a lot of great people but it’s also full of some of the worst people I’ve ever encountered.”
