Jake Paul was forced to make a quick adjustment to his engagement ring for fiancée Jutta Leerdam, all thanks to his former Disney Channel mate Selena Gomez.
Paul, 28, proposed to Leerdam, 26, last month with a ring that made special homage to Leerdam’s career as an Olympic speed skater.
“I picked out all of the aspects of it, and I made sure it was an oval-shaped ring because it’s in the shape of her speed skating rink and track,” Paul exclusively told Us Weekly at the premiere of Max’s Paul American last month. “So it’s oval, with two hearts on the side, our birthstones in it, and all that.”
However, shortly before Paul — who starred on Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark from 2016 to 2018 — was set to pop the question, the engagement ring of a certain Wizards of Waverly Place star caught Leerdam’s eye.

After making the move from Ohio to southern California to capitalize on their rising Internet notoriety, brothers Logan and Jake Paul struck major paydirt. “After three years of living in Los Angeles, Logan and I became the biggest daily vloggers on YouTube,” Jake, 28, said in the Thursday, March 27, premiere episode of their reality […]
“She saw Selena Gomez’s ring,” Paul said. “She was like, ‘I love the diamonds on the band,’ but I already had the ring. So I gave it back to the jeweler, and he put the diamonds down the band as soon as possible because I needed it really fast.”
Gomez, 32, got engaged to fiancé Benny Blanco in December 2024.
Paul said the turnaround took 10 days before he dropped to one knee in St. Lucia on March 21.
The couple plans on holding off wedding planning until after the 2026 Winter Olympics, Paul explained, so they can “really dive into it.”
“There’s just so much going on in our lives right now, and I want it to be perfect,” Paul said.
Even though Paul’s proposal was a surprise, Leerdam exclusively told Us Weekly at the Paul American premiere that she thought something might be in the works.

“I thought it was coming, but of course, you never know,” Leerdam said. “But I had a feeling, and then my parents were there to surprise me after. I had no idea. It was the best day ever.”
Paul, who has become one of the most profitable and polarizing names in the boxing world, gushed about how his relationship with Leerdam has benefited him in all aspects of his life.
“She pushes me to be better,” Paul told Us. “She works so hard training all the time, and so if maybe there’s a day where I was supposed to have an off day and she’s going for a run, I’ll go with her and I just see how hard she works. I just told her since the very beginning of our relationship that I want to be like her one day, which is a world champion.”
