Robin Thicke found a special way to honor his late father, Alan Thicke, while getting married this weekend.
Robin, 48, wed April Love Geary, 30, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Friday, May 30. The singer left an empty chair in the row reserved for close family members in honor of his late dad. (Alan Thicke died in 2016 of a ruptured aorta and a standard type A aortic dissection. He was 69.)
Video shared by author Kelly Gores via her Instagram Story revealed the chair had a banner with a message that explained its purpose to those in attendance. “In loving memory of Alan Thicke, Father of the groom,” the message began. “We remember … Although you cannot be here with us today, your love and light remain in our hearts. We feel your presence in the gentle breeze, the warmth of the sun, and the joy that fills the day. You are forever in our hearts.”
Robin surprised Geary by proposing a second time before their wedding.
“Robin surprised me during our trip to Cannes by proposing to me again with a new ring that one of my best friends @nikkiwhatnikkiwho @establishedjewelry made, I’m so obsessed with it, thank you!!!😭” she shared via Instagram on Sunday, May 25. “This trip was such a dream. 🤍 I love you so much @robinthicke. Also a huge thank you to @alilasky for clearing out the whole area and making sure there wasn’t a single person getting in the way 😂”

The pair began dating in 2014 and got engaged for the first time in December 2018. Their daughters Mia and Lola were born in 2018 and 2019, respectively, and their son Luca was born in 2020.
In January 2024, Robin told People the pair were beginning to plan their wedding after several years of anticipation and welcoming three children together. “Wedding plans are a priority. We’re looking at 2024, and we’re very excited,” he told the outlet at the time. “My relationship with April continues to grow beautifully as we’ve matured into three-time parents together. … She’s really the most amazing woman a man could ask for.”
In March 2022, Geary revealed to fans on Instagram that she wasn’t sure if Robin wanted a prenup before they got married, but added, “I’m not signing one.”
“He’s not marrying anyone else after me,” she added. “How do you go from, like, the baddest bitch on the planet? Where do you go from there? Trash.”
