How Wellness Transformed My Life & Inspired Me to Help Others: A CEO Shares Her Journey

Danna Pratte, Founder and CEO of Phoenix-based natural supplement company NBPure, says her own journey to better health inspired her lineup of wellness products.

“Health is the foundation for everything we do,” Pratte says. “It determines how much energy you have, how you sleep, whether you’re bloated or constipated, how happy you are, whether you can take a morning walk or exercise, and how fully you’ll live your life.”

The importance of health hit home for Pratte when she was juggling work and a growing family.

“If you’re not strong mentally and physically, it’s really hard to make it through your day with energy and enthusiasm,” says the mom of three boys, now in their 20s.

“It’s easy to put everyone else first. That’s what we do as parents,” says Pratte. “Instead of fitting in a workout or planning how I could be healthier, I was working, cooking, cleaning, and changing diapers.” Back then, Pratte had just started NBPure with its blockbuster gut cleanse, MagO7.

“I was juggling the needs of a business and my family. My own wellness came last and this, as I learned, was a mistake,” she says. “I remember my gut being so out of balance. I was experiencing digestive issues, which were not only inconvenient but embarrassing, too.”

Luckily, she had the answer right in front of her already.

“That’s why I was so excited to bring MagO7 to the market. I took it and my gut felt better, and I felt better. I had more energy and lost some weight, too. This motivated me to do more for myself because I felt so good,” she says.

“I wanted everyone to feel this way. This became the passion and drive behind everything I do at NBPure,” Pratte says.

“My own gut transformation made me realize that without a healthy gut, there is no health,” Pratte says. “Fixing your gut problems is the first, most important step for wellness.”

Pratte just launched a 3-step Gut Health Journey to give busy people an easy, everyday routine to banish bloating, relieve constipation, and support optimal gut health and wellness.

“The first step in any gut makeover is to get rid of backed-up waste,” says Pratte. “Getting rid of waste is the body’s natural detoxification system. We have to get the waste out before doing anything else. This is where MagO7 comes in. It consistently gets 5-star reviews because it works gently and effectively.”

After clearing out the waste, the next step is to nourish the gut with plenty of fiber, along with probiotics and digestive enzymes. That’s Step 2 in NBPure’s Gut Health Journey.

“We need 25 to 30 grams of fiber a day to keep the gut flowing,” Pratte says, noting that fiber has also been shown to be key for healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels, maintaining a healthy weight, and supporting the body and brain during the hormonal fluctuations of menopause.

“I know the challenges of trying to get enough nutrients every day, why I created our convenient Daily Multi-Fiber supplement,” says Pratte. “I mix the Savory Mocha with coconut milk for a healthy chocolate milk. It also comes in Unflavored and Coconut Lime, which I mix into smoothies.”

Once the gut is flowing optimally, the body can better absorb the nutrients it needs.

“It’s through the gut walls that nutrients — from the foods we eat or the supplements we take — are absorbed into the bloodstream for use by cells in the body,” says Pratte. “Your body can’t absorb the nutrients it needs if your gut is out of balance.”

That’s why Step 3 in the Gut Health Journey is Replenish — to add back essential nutrients. NBPure has a full line of bioavailable nutrients to nourish the body.

Pratte says her five tips for better health are steps you can take every day.

“These are the things I do to be healthier every day,” says Pratte. “What matters is that you’re doing something every day, no matter how small, with consistency.”

1. Put YOU on your schedule: “You have to prioritize self-care and if it means blocking off your schedule for 30 minutes to take a walk, do this!” says Pratte, who takes a walk every evening after dinner.

2. Make a smoothie: “I mix a plant-based milk with fresh or frozen fruits, plus a scoop each of Daily Multi-Fiber, Creatine+ for muscle and brain health, and our delicious Plant Protein+ powder,” she says.

3. Do strength training every day: “Strength training is so important, particularly as we get older,” says Pratte. “Even if you do a couple of reps with 5-pound weights every day or some pushups or squats, it’s better than not doing anything.”

4. Stay hydrated: “Water is essential to gut health and to overall health,” says Pratte. “You’ve got to drink enough. Keep a water bottle by your desk and carry one with you in the car to encourage you to drink more. I like to add our Performance Hydration to my water to replenish essential electrolytes, so important if you’re working out and sweating!”

5. Make sleep a priority: “Getting enough sleep is tied to everything: health, chronic disease prevention, mood and happiness, gut health, you name it,” says Pratte. “I wear blue light-blocking glasses during the day and shut off my phone at least an hour before bed as blue light can inhibit the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles. I also take Power Down, a non-melatonin supplement that helps me relax after a long day.”

“When you decide to make self-care a priority, everything falls into line from there,” Pratte says. “Make this your year to put YOU at the top of your list. When you do, you’ll be better able to take care of everyone and everything around you.”
