I Swear This Wrinkle-Smoothing Serum Is Like Botox in a Bottle — It Softened My Forehead Lines in Just 2 Weeks

As a 32-year-old woman, I am constantly bombarded with ads, TikToks, and my dermatologist cousin telling me one thing: It’s time to use retinol. While I want the benefits that come from regular retinol use, such as smoother skin and fewer lines, the horror stories from friends who have experienced bad reactions, like irritation, peeling, and redness, have made me hesitant about integrating it into my daily routine.

That was until I had the opportunity to try Dermelect’s Outcrease Retinol Trifecta Serum. This beginner-friendly formula faded my forehead lines within just two weeks of daily use, making it a new fixture in my skincare lineup.

I have two lines on my face that bother me, one across my forehead and another between my eyebrows. Both have visibly decreased since using the serum, which combines retinol, known for smoothing lines and improving skin tone, and retinyl palmitate, which helps protect and preserve the skin barrier. It also has retinyl acetate, which the brand says boosts collagen production, but there is no robust scientific evidence to support this, yet. I have yet to invest in Botox, but this product is the only one that has effectively reduced the appearance of my lines.

As someone with combination and acne-prone skin, I am wary of emollient serums. I’ve been burned before by many products that claim to be hydrating but comedogenic, only to leave me with big pimples. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Dermelect serum didn’t clog my pores at all, and instead made them appear smaller, giving me the glowy, glazed doughnut skin I covet.

While the directions on the bottle recommend using it twice daily, I opted for one nightly application, as I use a benzoyl peroxide wash for my acne in the mornings that doesn’t pair well with retinol. Not only did my skin appear dewier and less red in days, but it looked brighter — so much so that friends, family, and even my nail tech complimented me. The pores on my nose appear smaller, as well, and my skin has less discoloration and a more even tone, even within a few days of use.

Another significant benefit for me was that the serum is slow-releasing, meaning that the key ingredients are held in tiny capsules that gradually deposit on the skin, rather than immediately springing into action upon application. This eliminated the peeling and irritation typically associated with starting a retinol regimen.

Shoppers agreed with me — one customer with sensitive and dry skin said the serum left them feeling “soft, supple” with “no redness.” Another person said their skin was “so much smoother” in just three treatments, adding that the serum “significantly reduced the size of pores” around their nose and cheeks. I noticed the same on my face.

Shop the retinol serum while it’s still in stock, and keep reading for more skincare solutions from Dermelect.
