Jane Krakowski Heads Back to Broadway in Cole Escola’s Hit Comedy Oh, Mary!

NEED TO KNOW

  • Jane Krakowski will join Broadway’s Oh, Mary! as Mary Todd Lincoln starting Oct. 14
  • The role has previously been played by Cole Escola, Jinkx Monsoon, Betty Gilpin and Tituss Burgess
  • Krakowski, a Tony and Olivier winner, is best known for 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Broadway will be saying “Oh, Jane!” this fall, as Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski returns to the boards.

The 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actress will take over the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in the outrageous hit comedy, Oh, Mary!.

Her run begins performances Oct. 14 at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City, for an eight-week limited engagement through Dec. 7.

Since its Off-Broadway debut, Oh, Mary! has become a revolving showcase of talent, with the title role played by a lineup of bold names including Emmy nominees Tituss Burgess and Betty Gilpin, two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon and, of course, the show’s creator and original star, Tony-winner Cole Escola.

“I am so honored to slip into the bratty curls previously worn by Cole Escola, Betty Gilpin, Tituss Burgess and Jinkx Monsoon,” Krakowski, 56, said in a statement. “From the first time I watched Oh, Mary! downtown I thought, ‘How do I get myself on that stage in this role?’ After watching Cole take the NYC taxi ride uptown and now worshipping it four times more, I made it! Oh, Mary! is a comedic work of genius that ends up in my dream version of 7 minutes in heaven.”

Monsoon, who is currently leading Oh, Mary!, will play her final performance on Sept. 28. The show’s longtime understudy Hannah Solow will step in from Sept. 30 to Oct. 12 before Krakowski joins the company.

Directed by Tony winner Sam Pinkleton, Oh, Mary! opened on Broadway in July 2024 at the Lyceum Theatre, where it quickly became one of the season’s biggest hits. It has broken box office records more than a dozen times, recouped its investment and even made history as the first show in the Lyceum’s 121-year history to gross over $1 million in a single week.

In addition to Krakowski’s casting, producers also announced that the production will extend again, with tickets now available through July 5, 2026.

Beyond Broadway, Krakowski has built a career as one of entertainment’s most versatile performers. She is best known for her Emmy-nominated turn as Jenna Maroney on NBC’s 30 Rock, which also earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble. She went on to win a Critics Choice Award and grab another Emmy nomination for playing Jacqueline White on Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Her television credits also include Ally McBeal (for which she received a Golden Globe nomination), Apple TV+’s Schmigadoon! and Schmicago, Dickinson, FOX’s A Christmas Story Live!, Modern Family, Curb Your Enthusiasm and hosting FOX’s reboot of Name That Tune.

On stage, Krakowski won a Tony for Nine in 2003 and has additional nominations for She Loves Me and Grand Hotel. Her theater credits span Broadway classics like Company, Once Upon a Mattress, Tartuffe and Starlight Express, as well as a West End turn in Guys and Dolls — a role that nabbed her an Olivier Award.

Most recently, she appeared in Stephen Sondheim’s Here We Are at London’s National Theatre, and Manhattan Theater Club’s S—. Meet. Fan. Off-Broadway.

Tickets for Oh, Mary! are now on sale.
