Jason Ritter Hilariously Claps Back at Fans Thirsting Over Wife Melanie Lynskey: ‘Yes I Can Fight’

Some people are worth fighting for — and Jason Ritter knows it!

After fans of his wife, actress Melanie Lynskey, shared their enthusiastic reactions to photos of her at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars party on March 2, several asked Ritter, 45, if he “can fight” and he didn’t hesitate to put his dukes up — and did so in his typically hilarious fashion.

On Sunday, March 2, an X user shared a snap of the Yellowjackets star, 47, at the bash — where she wore a sparkling, strapless red gown and matching lip — and declared that it made their jaw drop. Responding to the post, several people echoed the sentiment — and dragged Ritter into the thirsting frenzy.

Several users who reposted the photo of the Last of Us star jokingly challenged Ritter, writing, “Can jason ritter fight,” and even tagging his X account to ask directly.

And the fans’ requests for comment seemingly worked, with the Matlock actor sharing an X post early the next morning that simply reads, “Yes I can fight.”

But some fans weren’t ready to back down just yet. Responding to his declaration with the same photo of Lynskey, one user wrote, “OKAY BUT CAN YOU????” — which received a resounding, all caps “YES” from the actor.

Another user, meanwhile, questioned Ritter’s ability to fight, citing his on-screen defeat in drama series Raising Dion.

“But Jason you EASILY were overpowered by being stabbed with a lightning rod,” the user wrote. “Okay but in my defense he was 6,” the actor fired back.

Fans still weren’t convinced, with some writing things like “maybe if we all join forces” and “not if we team up.” Even the official Yellowjackets account weighed in, writing “well he can’t fight us all right? 🤭” on author Evan Ross Katz’s Instagram post about Ritter’s hilarious declaration.

The official Matlock account also got in on the action, commenting, “We’re ready to defend our client @jason_ritter anytime, any place. ⚖️.”

Ritter and Lynskey, who have been together for over a decade, welcomed a daughter in 2018 and later said “I do” in 2020.

Last month, Lynskey posted an emotional tribute to the Gravity Falls actor on his 45th birthday, sharing several sweet photos of the star and a lengthy, heartfelt message in the caption.

“I get to hang out with you every day,” the Ever After actress began. “People you work with, people you’ve known for years, strangers you just met, they all ask me if I know how lucky I am. I do know. I really, really do. You bring so much joy to everyone you encounter, and then you come home and somehow have the energy to be present and bring even more joy to us. I’m so proud of you.”

“I’m so grateful for how good you are at putting furniture together, doing our daughter’s hair, listening and making actual real life changes, and cutting the cat’s nails,” she continued. “While I sometimes wish I could put your phone in a lockbox for a few hours a day, and I also wish you wouldn’t violently pull shirts from hangers so that about once a week a hanger snaps in half, I also feel grateful for those things because really, that’s not much to have to deal with.”

Wrapping the sweet tribute, the But I’m a Cheerleader star added, “I love you very much Dringus. I love your heart and I love your cute face. Happy birthday. ❤️.”
