Jennifer Lopez Removes Oversized Cape to Reveal Plunging V-Cut Black Gown at Broadway Opening Night

Jennifer Lopez was a sartorial sensation as she stepped out for the opening night of Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck.

Posing on the red carpet at the Winter Garden Theater in New York on Thursday, April 3, Lopez, 55, stunned in a statement-making white caftan cape with oversized shoulder detailing.

The Unstoppable star unveiled the figure-hugging number underneath when she removed the cape to reveal her stunning black floor-length dress which featured a plunging V-cut neckline.

Lopez teamed the strapless velvet gown with a matching black clutch and accessorized with a pair of drop earrings as well as a necklace that featured black and gold jewels. Meanwhile, several rings adorned the star’s fingers.

For her hair style, Lopez opted for a sleek and sophisticated straightened ‘do with a middle part. The simple style helped to complement rather than overwhelm her overall look.

Lopez attended the opening night in support of her former Out of Sight costar George Clooney, who made his Broadway debut in the play. Good Night, and Good Luck is the stage adaptation of the 2005 film of the same name which was directed by and starred Clooney. The story line centers on CBS news journalist Edward R. Murrow and his 1954 exposé on Senator Joseph McCarthy.

In the film version, Clooney played producer Fred Friendly. On stage two decades later, Clooney now holds the lead role of Murrow.

Clooney and the rest of the Good Night, and Good Luck cast also had support in the form of stars such as Cindy Crawford, Hugh Jackman, Uma Thurman, Kylie Minogue and Jim Parsons who all attended the opening night.

Also in attendance were the actor’s former E.R. costars Julianna Margulies and Anthony Edwards, who had a mini reunion as they showed up to support Clooney as he made his Broadway debut.

Pierce Brosnan, Monica Lewinsky, Richard Kind and Matthew Rhys were also among those who stepped out for the star-studded event.

Lopez’s outing comes after her highly publicized divorce from Ben Affleck, who she married in July 2022. Lopez filed for a dissolution of marriage from Affleck on August 20, 2024. The former couple finalized the divorce in January this year, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly at the time.

Lopez and Affleck’s love story traces back more than 20 years. The actors met on the set of Gigli in 2001, before becoming engaged in November 2002. They were initially scheduled to get married in September 2003, but they called off their wedding days before the planned ceremony. They confirmed their split in January 200 before eventually rekindling their romance in May 2021 and becoming engaged in April 2022.
