- Jesse Eisenberg is big fan of libraries and their books

- “I’m a daily patron of the library,” Eisenberg says
The library has a friend in Jesse Eisenberg — and for good reason.
The actor, writer and director, 42, has long found a creative haven amongst the stacks, he explained to PEOPLE at the Winter Reading Festival in New York City on Jan. 30.
“I’m a daily patron of the library. That’s where I do all my work, to the point where I can’t get anything creative done if I’m not at a library,” Eisenberg said of the New York Public Library. “The way I work in my own life is I go to the library every day with a friend of mine who’s also a writer. We sit together and work on our own projects and we bounce ideas off of each other. That’s how I’ve worked for about 10 years.”
The Bream Gives Me Hiccups author has also found inspiration, and joy, in books. Eisenberg shared one book he can’t wait to read and one he loves experiencing with his son, Banner.
A book he’s excited to read: ‘Vigil’ by George Saunders
“My friend got an early galley and said that I would love it and I look forward to it. That’s the next thing I want to read.”
A favorite children’s book: The ‘Miss Mallard’ mystery series by Robert Quackenbush
“My child has started devouring books through this series called the Miss Mallard books, which is about a ‘ducktective.’ That’s right, a ‘ducktective.’ Miss Mallard’s a duck and a detective.

I would say as a parent, it’s been the biggest thrill, because I was worried we would not ever get there. It’s great, because there’s a great library at my kid’s school.”
But Eisenberg brings his son, whom he shares with wife Anna Strout, to other library branches as well.
“My kid’s school is near an amazing branch and then across the street from the one I go to, there’s an amazing branch with a great children’s collection. If you’re a child in New York City and you’re interested in reading, it’s the most amazing place.”
