The fashion designer and mom of three, 45, shared a recent photo of her and her son Ace, 12, who towered over her while standing in the kitchen in his basketball uniform. In the black-and-white photo, the tween can be seen sweetly giving his mom a kiss on the forehead.

"My 12yr old Ace is much taller than is [sic] Mama 🥰❤️," she wrote in text over the photo. Along with the photo, Simpson added a small snippet from Ben E. King's "Stand By Me," noting a "fun fact" about the song's connection to her son. "Fun fact… he was born to this tune 🫶🏻."

Last July, the proud mom shared a series of photos on her Instagram in honor of her son Ace's 12th birthday. Simpson and her son could be seen enjoying a trip to Six Flags, posing together on his birthday as they celebrated his big day.

"Happy 12th Birthday Ace!!! You are the sun. You are the moon. You are the wishes of every shooting star. You are the light. You are the way," Simpson wrote in her caption.

"You are the love that makes your Mamas heart glow! There’s absolutely nothing you can’t do. You excel in every single thing without even tryin’. You’re just that kid with a heart of gold that can do it ALL. Everything you do and all that you are makes me so very proud. I love you ACE the GREAT!"

In addition to Ace, Simpson shares daughters Birdie Mae, 6, and Maxwell Drew, 13, with her estranged husband Eric Johnson. The couple were married for 10 years before announcing their split on Jan. 13. During her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show back in October, the actress revealed to host Jennifer Hudson that her children are "very proud" of her music career.

"They've never seen me perform," she told Hudson. "I really wanted to be a mom. I wanted to focus on The Jessica Simpson Collection and that really was connected to my lifestyle."

"The kids are very proud of me. They've supported me since I started going out to Nashville," she said. "They knew I was following my dreams and they saw how happy like it made me and how much peace it gave me."

The singer appeared on Today with Jenna & Friends in July and spoke about moving to Nashville to make new music, which appears on the EPs Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1 and Nashville Canyon, Pt. 2. Simpson shared what she learned about herself and her family as she made the record.

“I went out to Nashville because I just felt like that was the place where songwriters — they’re not competitive and they allow you to be yourself," the mom of three began. "Nothing you say is judged and I needed clarity. Like, emotional clarity in general."

"So I thought I was going to be doing this inspirational type of record, but it ended up leaning more towards how do I get through this moment, because my whole life completely changed while making this record," she continued.

"And it became something I never would have expected, but there is blessings in the pain. You can find beauty in the pain," said Simpson. "I want my daughters and my son to know that, no matter what we go through in life, nothing can take us down. As long as we are who we are and we know our purpose and we are guided by that.”
