Jesus Guerrero’s family is thanking Kylie Jenner for her help following the hairstylist’s sudden death.
Guerrero’s family first announced via Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 23, that the 34-year-old hairstylist “suddenly and unexpectedly” died. Guerrero notably worked with Jenner and Jennifer Lopez.
His younger sister, Gris, created a GoFundMe page to help raise money for his funeral expenses and transport his belongings back to his hometown of Houston.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, his family updated the GoFundMe, sharing that Jenner, 27, offered to cover the expenses.
“When this go fund me was set up we created it thinking we would have to take care of all the expenses ourselves. We didn’t want to burden any clients with this. Our family deeply appreciates Kylie for later offering to cover funeral expenses and offering up all her help and support,” read the update.
The description noted that the $96,000 previously raised “will go toward the costs associated with securing his belongings home” and other “unexpected expenses to settle his assets.”
“With his death being so unexpected there are many things that weren’t set up for a time like this. The next several months will have many hoops we will have to jump through to ensure we honor him in the best way we can,” the description read.
“Our mother will be taking time off to ensure that everything gets taken care of and so that she can greave properly because a mother should never have to bury her child.” The update concluded: “We truly appreciate everyone’s support. Thank you”
“Jesus’ death hit her hard,” an insider told PEOPLE of Jenner on Monday, Feb. 24. “She is shocked and very upset. Still, she’s doing everything she can to be supportive and aid his family, including financially.”
“As upset as she feels, she knows it’s so much worse for his family. She doesn’t want them to stress about money,” the source continued. “She’s taking care of expenses, including those associated with his funeral.”
Along with Jenner and Lopez, 55, Guerrero also worked with Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Rosalía, Demi Moore, Charli xcx, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa and Lisa of BLACKPINK.
He worked with Jenner and Lopez days before his death. Jenner posted with Guerrero in her Wednesday, Feb. 12 Instagram post. A week later, on Wednesday, Feb. 19, Lopez, who was in Dubai, shared an Instagram post and tagged Guerrero, seemingly to credit him with her blowout.
Both women penned heartfelt tributes to him on Tuesday, with Jenner writing, “Jesus was more than my friend — he was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support.”
Lopez wrote, “I’ve been having trouble putting the words together the last few days. The truth is I’m still in shock that such a beautiful young life has come to an end. It seems senseless and unfair.”
