Jesus Guerrero’s family is reacting to the release of the celebrity hairstylist’s official cause of death.
After the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed on Monday, June 2, that Jesus died of natural causes in connection with two separate infections, his sister Gris Guerrero exclusively told Us Weekly that the entire family is “still processing” the news.
“I can’t say how we are fully feeling about the whole thing,” she shared with Us on Monday. “We knew some of his symptoms toward the end were pneumonia-like, but there are more factors [which] led to that at the end.”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner revealed that Jesus died of pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) and disseminated cryptococcus neoformans, which are fungal infections that can severely impact those with weakened immune systems.

According to the CDC, PCP is a rare, serious lung infection with symptoms that can develop over several days or weeks.
“This is so new,” Gris continued, “so we are still processing all the information.”
Jesus, a celebrity hairstylist for stars like Kylie Jenner and Katy Perry, died “suddenly and unexpectedly” on February 22 at age 34. He was laid to rest in Houston, Texas, one month later.
Throughout the month of February, Jesus was working with several high-profile clients including Kali Uchis for the 2025 Grammys and Jennifer Lopez for a work trip to the United Arab Emirates.
At the time of Jesus’ passing, Gris shared with Us that there were “so many unanswered questions” about her family member’s death.
“We have been able to track every one of his steps, but we don’t know what got him sick or what was [the] sickness,” she explained to Us. “It all happened suddenly, and no one knows why.”
As for how the family will move forward after the official cause of death was revealed, Gris said it “depends on how we end up settling on all of our feelings.”
“Close friends have been in contact here and there when they think of him,” Gris added when discussing the family’s ongoing grieving process.

As Gris continues to mourn her loss, she has tried to keep her brother’s memory alive.
In a post from the family’s GoFundMe page, Gris shared her fondest memories with her sibling.
“We would love for everyone to remember the light and warmth he brought to every room along with his laugh and smile,” she wrote via GoFundMe. “He is a soul to be celebrated. His generosity, kindness and empathy was unmatched. I hope to see you again.”
