Jesy Nelson has confirmed she and fiancé Zion Foster have split after four years together.
In an interview with the Daily Mail on Monday, Feb. 2, the Little Mix musician opened up about how the harrowing experience they endured with their 8-month-old twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe who have a rare diagnosis contributed to their breakup.
“We have been through such a traumatic experience and for us, our girls are our main priority and our main focus,” Nelson, 34, told the outlet.
She continued, “We want to give them the most positive, happy and uplifting time and energy and because we have both been through such a traumatic experience, the energy wasn’t right between us, which is understandable.”
“We are still friends and we are still united in co-parenting our daughters, they are our main focus, that’s all we can do, be the best possible parents we can right now,” Nelson said.
PEOPLE has reached out to Foster for comment.
Last month, Nelson revealed that her daughters were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), which is an inherited neuromuscular disorder that weakens and wastes away muscles due to the loss of a specific nerve cell in your spinal cord that controls muscle movement, per the Cleveland Clinic.
In an Instagram video shared on Jan. 4, Nelson tearfully revealed her daughters’ rare diagnosis and recalled being told her girls would most likely be disabled as a result of their condition.
“We were told that they’re probably never gonna be able to walk, they probably will never regain their neck strength so they will be disabled. And so the best thing we can do right now is to get them treatment and then just hope for the best,” she said at the time.
While speaking with the Daily Mail, the “Bad Thing” performer said she was “sad” and “angry” that her daughters’ condition wasn’t identified earlier.
“I am taking each day as it comes because I feel like right now, especially with the girls’ diagnosis, it’s all I can really do. If I try to look too far into the future, I will drive myself crazy,” said Nelson, noting that her daughters are doing really well and they’re happy.”
“That’s all I can really ask for,” she added.
Since January 2022, Nelson and Foster have been linked, dating on and off, per the Daily Mail. Over the years, they collaborated on music together, including the song “Mine,” which they shared in August 2024.
In September 2025, the couple announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post, just over four months after the couple welcomed their first children together,
“Just got engaged to my best friend 🥹💍,” Nelson wrote in the caption at the
