Jodie Foster and her look-alike son Christopher “Kit” Bernard Foster enjoyed a fun night out in California on Saturday, April 5.
The mother-son duo had identical smiles as they walked the carpet at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Jodie, 62, looked classic in a cream-colored sleeveless, tuxedo-style dress with her hair blown out. Kit, 23, wore a navy suit and accessorized with a polka-dot bow tie and brown-rimmed eyeglasses.
Kit most recently attended the 2025 Golden Globe Awards with his mom at The Beverly Hilton in January. Jodie won for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television for True Detective: Night Country.
The Breakthrough Prize event, deemed the “Oscars of Science,” celebrates the wonders of science. This year honored scientists driving remarkable discoveries in gene editing, human diseases, the fundamental particles of the Universe and its underlying mathematical principles.

It was seemingly an important ceremony for Kit, who is a scientist himself. Graduating from Princeton University in 2024, Kit has a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry.
“My younger son is really shy, and I can promise you he will never be an actor,” Jodie told The Guardian in 2018, adding of Kit in a profile with Net-A-Porter that same year, “[He’s a] hyper-focused scientist.”

Jodie also shares son Charles “Charlie” Bernard Foster, 26, with her ex-partner Cydney Bernard, whom she split from in 2008 after a 15-year relationship. Jodie married photographer Alexandra Hedison in 2018.
For his part, Charlie seems to be more interested in his Oscar-winning mother’s line of work. He attended Yale University and took part in several school theater productions from 2017 to 2021, per the Yale College Arts website. In February 2025, Foster brought Charlie with her to the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Jodie called Charlie “super-charming, super-spontaneous” in the Net-A-Porter interview.
