John Goodman looks totally different.
The actor, 74, appeared almost unrecognizable in a new photo taken with Wizards of Waverly Place star David DeLuise, which he shared on Instagram on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Goodman appeared noticeably slimmer while snapped alongside DeLuise, 54, inside a grocery store after they bumped into each other.
“He was my childhood!! Legend!” DeLuise captioned the post. “I love that I get to say that to someone ;), if you know you know.”

Goodman has been on a committed health journey for several years now.
The Roseanne alum told PEOPLE in 2010 that he lost more than 100 lbs after cutting sugar from his diet and was working out six days a week. He also quit drinking in 2007.
“I’m breaking a sweat, but I’m not going nuts,” the actor, then in his late 50s, said.
Goodman revealed on Late Night with David Letterman that same year that he was “pushing 400” lbs at his heaviest. “I’d get off of Roseanne — every spring. I’d lose 60 pounds every spring,” he said, per TV Guide. “And then I got too fond of the barley corn,” he said, adding that he would gain the weight back “and some.”

Goodman said of his decision to quit drinking, per News.com.au, “I just got tired, sick and tired of looking at myself. You’re shaving in the mirror, and you don’t want to look at yourself. It gets dangerous … I wanted to live life better.”
According to the outlet, the actor said he decided to quit alcohol after he woke up one morning shaking after a heavy weekend drinking with friends. He then checked himself into a treatment center.
Goodman recently discussed his clean and healthy lifestyle while appearing in a July 8 Instagram video for London restaurant Simpson’s in the Strand, owned by friend Jeremy King.
“I don’t grill anymore because I don’t drink anymore,” the Righteous Gemstones star said, explaining that grilling “was a good excuse to get drunk — stand in front of something hot.”

Goodman’s last public appearance was at the 2026 SXSW Conference and Festival in Austin, Texas, promoting the movie Chili Finger.
