Live from Studio 8H — it’s Jon Hamm!

The actor, 54, hosted Saturday Night Live on April 12, when he was joined by Lizzo, who served as the evening’s musical guest.

“I’m so honored to be here hosting, this my fourth time,” Hamm said in his opening monologue. “It’s been a minute. Last time I hosted was October 2010, but even though it’s been a while I’ve still been on the show a lot.

“In fact, I was checking my own Wikipedia, which I often do, and I found out since then I’ve made 14 cameos,” he continued. “In many ways, making a cameo is even more special than being the host.”

Hamm watched several of his SNL appearances shown at once as he gushed about the audience’s reaction every time he walked out unexpectedly.

The actor’s comments came moments before Kieran Culkin, 42, unexpectedly crashed his monologue.

“What are you even doing here? This is my monologue,” Hamm said, with Culkin replying, “I know, I’m just making a cameo.”

“Why, I’m a huge star, and I’m doing really well all by myself,” Hamm said.

“I’m sorry, man. I’ll make it up to you,” Culkin responded.

Hamm then demanded that Culkin give him his Oscar to apologize for the interruption, which began a debate over who starred in the better series.

Mad Men is better than Succession,” Hamm said, with Culkin arguing, “No, it isn’t.”

“I think we can both agree that you’re wrong. I love you, bye,” Hamm said before pushing Culkin off-camera.

Elsewhere during the show, Hamm starred in a variety of sketches, including one in which he played a detective investigating a missing person’s case, and another where he poked fun at medication adverts.

One other moment from the late-night comedy sketch series saw the star portray a participant in an icebreaker who shares too much information.

During a musical performance, Lizzo, 36, performed a medley of “Love in Real Life/Still Bad”  from her soon-to-be-released album Love in Real Life.

She later returned to the stage to sing “Don’t Make Me Love You.”

Ahead of his SNL hosting gig, Hamm told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that he was excited to return to host the late-night series for the first time in over a decade.

“It’s funny. It’s been 15 years since I hosted, so I’ve forgotten — Am I supposed to be nervous yet? I don’t remember,” he said at the time, adding that it was “a tremendous honor to be asked back.”

“It’s such a unique thing to do in our industry, and in television, and obviously, with the 50th anniversary … and I’m just so honored to be a part of that family, for sure,” continued the Your Friends and Neighbors star.

Hamm last hosted SNL in October 2010. Before that, he hosted in January 2010, and he made his hosting debut in October 2008.

Saturday Night Live airs weekends on NBC.
