Josh Brolin Reveals Hilarious Reason Why He and His Young Daughters Missed the L.A. Dodgers’ Big Win

Josh Brolin is revealing the reason he missed the Los Angeles Dodgers’ big win.

During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Marvel actor, 57, shared the reason why he missed the Los Angeles Dodgers’ big win against the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series. Brolin, who attended the game with his family, told host Jimmy Kimmel that he left early because he thought the Blue Jays were going to win and decided to take his daughters — Chapel, 4, and Westlyn, 7 — home.

“They needed to go home,” he told the late-night host, 57. “We needed to go watch KPop Demon Hunters.”

Brolin went on to recall his first experience watching the musical action film with his youngest daughter, Chapel, when she was sick. He told Kimmel that she didn’t want to leave a birthday party, but they had to because of her itchy throat, and he told her they’d watch the movie if she went home.

“She didn’t want to leave the party, but she was sick. She had a throat thing. And I said, ‘Look, if we go home, let’s watch — and I [had] never seen it — KPop Demon Hunters,‘ ” he said. “So, we … turned it on and I thought, ‘God, man, this is like the last thing I want to do.’ I was bawling at the end.”

Elsewhere in the interview the dad of four shared that his younger daughters, whom he shares with his wife Kathryn Boyd Brolin, also influence his taste in music. He shared with Kimmel that because of his daughters he likes to listen to artists, like Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift. The Avengers: Endgame star noted that he used to go back and forth with his interest in The Life of a Showgirl hitmaker, 35, but ultimately was won over.

“Every time we go to school, [they ask,] ‘Can we play Taylor?’ Every time we come back, ‘Can we play Taylor?’ If we take a trip, ‘Can we play Taylor?’ ” he recalled. “And then they’re at school and one day I’m driving and I’m by myself, and I suddenly miss — like in my bones — I miss Taylor.”

“[It’s] like we had an affair. And I’m like, why do I feel this way? I feel like there’s a loss happening in my life. Like, did we break up?” he added. “And I didn’t know what it was. And then I turned on Taylor Swift by myself in the car, and I felt whole again.”

In addition to his younger daughters, Brolin shares adult son Trevor, 37, and daughter Eden, 30, with ex-wife Alice Adair. In 2021, the actor shared a rare photo on Instagram of himself with his two adult children.

“My girl and my boy (@edenbrolin & @funtonofun) who jump started my heart almost 33 years ago and has kept me real, kept me true, and has shown me what a diamond asset humility is,” the star wrote in the caption of his post. “I love you both so much. ❤️❤️.”

In the comments section, the actor’s wife Kathryn commented, “Biggest hearts I know right there. All three of them. ❤️.”

In November 2024, the proud dad told PEOPLE that though he was “tougher with my older kids,” his younger daughters have been testing him.

“My girls are strong personalities and they’re testing it, and I know the test,” he said. “Kids look up to you like a god, and they think if they can break you then they’re not safe.”
