Happy anniversary, Josh Gad and Ida Darvish!
The couple recently celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary together on May 11, Gad shared in a post to Instagram. The pair of actors, who share two children together, met in 2004 after co-starring in a small Santa Monica production and wed four years later.
“17 years and counting. Every day, I pinch myself that you said yes to this bundle of idiocy and insanity,” Gad, 44, wrote in the post’s caption. “Thank you for joining me on this ride called life and for giving us two beautiful and amazing girls. Love you babe.”
The actor shared a similarly sweet tribute to his wife the year prior, in which he joked their marriage could “legally have its own driver’s license.” He added that their partnership has been through a wide range of unforeseen challenges, but with “gifts we never could have imagined,” he wrote in a post.
Gad — best known for his role as Olaf in Frozen — and Darvish, who forged a successful career as a video game voice actor, first connected when they portrayed a married couple in David Ives’ play All in the Timing.
“I fell head-over-heels for her. At the time, she was 29 and I was 23, and we were both shocked when we learned the other person’s age,” he recalled to The i Paper. “It was one of those things where it was just kismet and we’ve been together ever since.”
The longtime couple now shares two daughters: Ava Tanya, 14, and Isabella Eve, 11.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple had to navigate their children’s remote learning, Gad told PEOPLE in December 2020. Eventually, the two girls became “pros at virtual school,” which Gad completely credits to his wife.
“The real hero of the moment is my wife, Ida,” Gad told PEOPLE. “For somebody who never signed up to be a teacher or a principal, she’s done an incredible job at being both.”
