Julia Louis-Dreyfus isn’t ditching her signature brunette curls for good, but the actress did have fun as a blonde.
The Seinfeld actress, 64, is one of the cast members of Marvel’s newest star-studded movie, Thunderbolts* — in the film, she plays the antagonistic CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
Part of the character’s signature look includes a platinum blonde streak at the front of her side-parted hair that seamlessly blends into the rest of her glossy brunette strands. The look served as a small departure from the brunette hair that the actress has been known for since starring in Seinfeld, which ran for nine seasons between 1989 and 1998.
According to Louis-Dreyfus, going blonde for the role— at least, partially — was a “fun” experience, because of the film’s Marvel connection.
During the Wednesday, April 30, special screening of Thunderbolts* in New York City, the Veep star was asked in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE what it felt like deviating from her signature dark hair color and she revealed that she happily embraced the change.
“That felt fabulous,” Louis-Dreyfus says of the hair transformation for the role. “I mean, it was really fun to have. It feels very Marvel to have that.”

The actress adds that it was “marvelous to have that streak, and I think it suits my character super well.”
For the Thunderbolts* special screening, the actress wore a fitted black and blue midi dress with a leather black belt to cinch in her waist. Louis-Dreyfus kept the rest of her look classic by wearing black satin pumps to complete the look.
The star has been on a press tour for Thunderbolts* — on Tuesday, April 29, Louis-Dreyfus stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the movie.

For her appearance on the late night show, the actress dazzled in a sparkling gold sequin midi dress. Louis-Dreyfus kept the gold elements going with metallic gold pumps and diamond encrusted white gold hoop earrings.
She also maintained a touch of sparkle at the Los Angeles premiere of Thunderbolts* on Monday, April 28. The actress wore a slinky black dress on the red carpet that featured a plunging V-neck line that exposed a hint of cleavage.
During the movie’s Los Angeles premiere, Louis-Dreyfus shared what it meant to finally be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“To be a part of this genre of movie making…I’m speechless,” she told The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet for the event. “There are really no worlds for it. It’s a complete blessing, and I’m just delighted to be a tiny little piece of it because why wouldn’t I want to be a part of this fun?”
