Julianne Hough is planning her next major hair change — and she’ll go across the world to do it!
The Dancing with the Stars host revealed in the Sept. 9 episode of the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast that she wishes to travel to Bhutan, a country in Southeast Asia, to get her head shaved by a monk.
“I have this thing on my list of things I want to do: I want to go to Bhutan and shave my head with a monk,” she told host Amanda Hirsch during the episode. “It was just to shave my head, but now there’s two added layers: Bhutan and a monk.”
Hough explained that she has given the hair change ample thought and has been discussing how she can shave her head while still maintaining her signature look — her highlighted blonde bob — for work.
“I literally called my hairstylist Riawna [Capri] and I was like, ‘I think we need to make a wig that is my exact haircut right now,’” the pro dancer continued. “I was like, ‘We need to replicate this as a wig so that I can just [shave it] and then know that I’m good for work.’” Hough added, “It’s weird. I’ve been wanting to do this my whole life.”
The Burlesque star called her hair an “outward expression of whatever I go through internally,” and noted that she has “been through a very big excavation process recently and I’m like, ‘Take it off!’”
Hough has fluctuated through two main hairstyles throughout the years. In the mid to late 2000s, she often sported longer, bright blonde hair that fell past her shoulders. In recent years, the dancer has worn her hair cropped to her ears with more highlights for dimension.

“The last seven years, all the things I put into place—the systems of protection of who you think you should be—all of them have gone away,” Hough added. “So I’m like, ‘Oh last thing, I just need to shave my head now.’”
