Kaitlyn Bristowe is not giving up on finding The One, despite two failed engagements.
“I love love. I really do. I’m a sucker for it,” Bristowe, 39, said during an “I Choose Me With Jennie Garth” podcast episode, released on Friday, March 14. “I do like the idea of marriage. I do like the idea of having a family. But I don’t know if anything’s changed.”
She continued, “Sometimes I think I need to soften up a little bit because I do love love, but I try to be too tough sometimes.”
Bristowe admitted that “deep down” she’s more of a lover than anything else.
“I think I’ve always had the same beliefs and thoughts and ideas of what love is,” she added. “It’s just I think I’ve maybe gotten more secure in my own self so I can talk about it differently now.”
Bristowe detailed some major breakups in her life, including her two past engagements. The former Bachelorette star left her season of the show in 2015 engaged to Shawn Booth. They split in November 2018. Bristowe moved on with Jason Tartick in 2019. He proposed in 2021 but by 2023 they had called it quits.
Bristowe briefly explained that she and Tartick, 36, “just were not compatible at all whatsoever at the end” of their relationship, which is what ultimately led to their split.
The “Off the Vine” podcast host said that going forward she plans to keep things on the private side when it comes to her love life.
“I just feel like I really would like to try a different approach this time. Although I kind of find myself feeling guilty about that, because I do share so much, and I do feel like that’s part of who I am as an open book, and sharing everything, and not caring what people think,” she said. “But when it comes to dating right now, I just feel like I want to keep it so sacred.”
