In a surprising plot twist, Kat Izzo is returning to Paradise.
A source exclusively tells Us Weekly that Kat — who appeared on season 27 of The Bachelor and season 9 of Bachelor in Paradise — will be in Costa Rica to look for The One on season 10 of the spinoff. When Bachelor Nation last saw Kat, she had gotten engaged to John Henry. They announced their breakup days after the finale aired in December 2023.
“With mutual love and respect, Kat and I have recently decided to part ways. …. While our paths are taking different directions due to our career goals not aligning, we are grateful for the love and support we’ve received from our family, friends, and Bachelor Nation,” the statement read, in part. “While this decision wasn’t easy, we believe it’s the right step for both of us as individuals. As we navigate this transition, we ask for your continued support and respect for our privacy.”
John Henry later said on the “Almost Famous” podcast that he was the one to pull the plug because his career as a commercial diver, known for underwater welding, wasn’t “relationship friendly.”

Another couple from Bachelor in Paradise season 9 have called it quits just days after the finale aired. Kat Izzo and John Henry Spurlock announced their breakup on Monday, December 11, with a joint Instagram post. “With mutual love and respect, Kat and I have recently decided to part ways. Our relationship has been filled […]
Kat, meanwhile, compared their breakup to Jenn Tran‘s headline-making split from fiancé Devin Strader on season 21 of The Bachelorette during an interview with Us.
“I experienced something almost identical to that,” Kat told Us in September 2024. “It was emotional for my family and I to watch. I was broken up over the phone out of nowhere, had to watch our engagement and felt so confused because we had broken up, maybe, two weeks before the engagement aired.”
Kat suggested that John Henry and Devin’s actions show “that men who are so unwilling to take the time to understand themselves and their emotions, come off so unempathetic to the other partner.”
“Whether it’s intentional or not, do the work so that way you’re not hurting people,” Kat continued. “Both of you guys have lived enough experience to have done the work. They’ve just chosen not to, so it’s a choice at the end of the day, which makes me infuriated for her.”
Following her split from John Henry, Kat started dating a man named Zac Cooper. While they hard-launched their relationship on Instagram in July 2024 — and he was present with Kat for her interview with Us last fall — the twosome clearly called it quits for her to return to BiP.
The last time she was on the beaches looking for love, Kat was in Mexico. Production for season 10, which is currently underway, shifted to Costa Rica for the 2025 season.
The only other confirmed cast members so far are Jonathon Johnson, Hakeem Moulton, Zoe McGrady, Leslie Fhima and Gary Levingston.
Bachelor in Paradise will premiere on ABC July 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
