Kate Hudson Channels Her How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days Character in an Elegant Butter Yellow Dress

NEED TO KNOW

  • Kate Hudson attended Warner Bros. Television Group’s 77th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees Celebration on Sept. 13
  • The actress’ butter yellow dress looked right out of her film How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
  • Hudson previously revealed that she doesn’t know where the original dress, designed by Carolina Herrera and costume designer Karen Patch, is located

Kate Hudson stepped into a dress that her How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days character, Andie Anderson, would approve of.

The actress, 46, wowed on the red carpet at Warner Bros. Television Group’s 77th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 13, and paid homage to the 2003 film with her evening attire.

Hudson wore an elegant butter yellow dress that featured a sweetheart neckline and ribbed bustier cups, which showed a hint of cleavage. The dress hugged the actress’ figure before flaring out at the knees.

The Almost Famous actress completed the look with a boxy gold clutch, pointed light gray heels and subtle jewelry. Hudson’s glam for the evening was equally subtle and consisted of a glowing complexion, loose waves and rosy pink tones on her cheeks and lips.

The look called back to her character Andie Anderon’s slinky yellow dress worn in the 2003 film. The look takes center stage in a scene where Ben Berry, played by Matthew McConaughey, picks her up for a date. The custom look was designed by Carolina Herrera and costume designer Karen Patch.

Hudson has no choice but to settle on dresses that look like the one Andie wears in the movie. In a September 2021 interview with Elle, the actress revealed that she does not know what happened to the original dress.

“I have no idea where that dress is!” she told the outlet. “I know it was Carolina Herrera, and our amazing costume designer designed the dress with Carolina’s team.” She added, “I do not know where it is, but I feel like we should find it!”

Hudson revealed that she enjoys seeing fans recreate the look years later. Sophie Turner, Sabrina Carpenter and Megan Moroney have all put a unique spin on Anderson’s slinky yellow dress worn in the film.

“I love it,” Hudson told Byrdie in 2022, when asked how she feels about the dress being referenced decades later.

“Andie had very minimal lines, with her pencil skirts and the way she wore her hair to work. Her look was very clear,” she added. “So when she got into all of her insanity and all of her crazy [later in the movie], we got to have such fun, you know?”
