Kate Hudson is reflecting on her time filming Netflix’s Running Point.
Hudson, 46, opened up to PEOPLE about her on-set experiences at the show’s Emmy FYC event on May 30 in Los Angeles, where she revealed that she sustained “so many bruises” while shooting the basketball dramedy.
“I remember one time I had this big bruise on my my left thigh and I was getting into bed and [my fiancé Danny Fujikawa] was … like, ‘Babe, what’s going on?’ And it was like massive,” she recalls her partner reacting. “And I was like, ‘Oh, that’s weird. Something’s wrong.’ ”
She then shared the culprit behind the “massive” bruise.
In the show, created by Mindy Kaling, her character Isla Gordon takes over the family business as president of the fictional Los Angeles Waves while her older brother Cam Gordon (Justin Theroux) enters a rehabilitation facility for his drug addiction. When she inherits his office, she finds his old secret stash of drugs in a desk drawer.
In the third episode of the series, after Isla continues to bang her leg into the drawer, her recently discovered half-brother Jackie (Fabrizio Guido) helps her remove it during his first week as her assistant.
“And then I was like, ‘Oh wait, the drug drawer.’ That’s all. I have been hitting a drug drawer for like two weeks,” Hudson explains. “Yeah, you know, the war wounds.”
When asked what her remedy for her grueling days on set was, she responded, “A lot of drinking with a lot of boys. We liked our little after work cocktail.”
