As a beauty writer in my late 20s, I’ve always thought about, but never overly worried myself with, anti-aging remedies.
Sure, I adopted regular healthy skincare habits like wearing sunscreen and removing my makeup nightly, but wrinkles hadn’t yet been a huge focus of mine — until I looked in the mirror a few weeks ago and noticed a flurry of fresh lines on my neck.
I could have gone down a worry-induced research rabbit hole, but instead I decided to follow Kate Hudson’s lead: She shared her own neck-and-chest preservation tactic in a recent TikTok, wearing an Omnilux décolletage red light therapy mask. I could go for her exact one, but I have my sights set on this slightly less expensive version from Solawave, a brand I’ve trusted for years.
Solawave Neck & Chest Pro Light Therapy Mask
I’ve personally seen big results with the brand’s Wrinkle Retreat Pro LED Face Mask, which has since been upgraded, and the 4-in-1 Radiant Renewal Skincare Wand, so this piece of armor seems like a no-brainer. It is expensive, yes, but everything is buy one, get one free right now, so you can keep one and stash the other away to gift on Valentine’s Day, birthdays, or so forth.
What I love most is that it, like the face mask, is a hands-free treatment that I can strap on while working, mediating, or doing nothing. It only takes three minutes to complete a treatment, which is less time than it takes to brush my teeth and comb my hair. In other words, it’s a time commitment I can actually handle.
As for the science, it uses four different light wavelengths — amber, red light, deep red, and near infrared — to do things like firm, promote collagen production, minimize lines, and more. It should be absolutely painless, according to the brand, just like the other two Solawave devices I own, which makes it all the more exciting in my mind. (Trust me, painful gadgets and gizmos are not worth it.)
Shoppers have seen a lot of success with the tool, too. There’s “much less pigmentation on my chest” and “[my] skin is so much softer,” wrote one reviewer.
It also helped another person who was dealing with “dry, crepey, and itchy” skin during perimenopause. “I’ve been using it for almost four weeks and I’ve noticed the lines are less defined and my skin feels amazing,” they said.
