Kate Hudson’s daughter, Rani, is proving the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
In a Sunday, May 25, Instagram video, Hudson, 46, stood with Rani, 6, as the little one lip synced her iconic quote from Almost Famous.
“I always tell the girls, never take it seriously,” Rani lipsynced as Hudson wagged her finger in the air as she held a drink. “If you never take it seriously, you never get hurt. If you never get hurt, you always have fun.”
Hudson captioned the post, “And if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends.”
Fans and celebrities alike quickly took to the comments section to weigh in on the full-circle moment — and the striking resemblance between Hudson and Rani. “Oh my HEART just burst into a million little bubbles! 💕💕💕,” Reese Witherspoon commented.
Hudson, who shares Rani with fiancé Danny Fujikawa, starred in the coming-of-age film in 2022. (Hudson previously welcomed son Ryder, now 21, with ex-husband Chris Robinson in 2024 and son Bingham, now 13, with former fiancé Matt Bellamy in 2011.)
Almost Famous centers around teenager William Miller (Patrick Fugit) who follows rock band Stillwater as he attempts to write his first piece for Rolling Stone. Along the way, William meets rock legends and is taken under the wing of groupie Penny Lane (Hudson).

In recent years, Hudson has paid homage to the cult classic movie via her wardrobe. She stepped out in New York City in 2024 wearing an updated version of the beloved character’s iconic coat. The original jacket, meanwhile, disappeared after wrapping and has not been traced since.
“I stole a pair of jeans and a shirt I don’t even think made it in the movie,” Hudson revealed to W magazine in January 2023. “I didn’t get the fur. I think the coat is in the Academy Museum.”
While Hudson was nominated for an Academy Award for the film, she lost the trophy to Marcia Gay Harden.
“Back then, I had fallen so deeply in love with my [then] husband that the night of the Oscars, I just wanted to go home, get snuggly by the fire, and smoke a joint. But when the show was over and I lost, Kurt [Russell] looked at me and said, ‘Congratulations. Now you can have a career,’” she reflected in 2023, referring to her mom’s longtime love. “Two decades later, that feeling is always close to my heart.”
