Kate Middleton’s latest look featured lots of hidden nods to Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
On Sept. 11, the Princess of Wales, 43, popped out in a gray plaid pantsuit identified by Bella Freud, a London label, with a black top and accessories for her visit to British textile manufacturers in Suffolk and Kent.
The pattern of her chic suit was interpreted as a tribute to Prince William, as the plaid is called the Prince of Wales check. King Charles made William the Prince of Wales, the traditional title for the male heir to the throne, following his accession in September 2022, and Kate became the Princess of Wales in the same sweep.
Princess Kate followed in the late Princess Diana’s footsteps with her latest look, as Prince William’s mother – another Princess of Wales — also sported the print in the late 1980s.
Kate’s fashion statement wasn’t the only one connected to her family for her double set of duties on Wednesday.
Following her appearance at Sudbury Silk Mills in Sudbury, Suffolk, the first stop on her schedule, cameras captured that she had on a highly personalized necklace at Marina Mill in Cuxton, Kent.
The Princess of Wales wore her Gold Fixed Alphabet Necklace by Daniella Draper, which features charms of the letters G, C and L.
The bespoke necklace features George, Charlotte and Louis’ initials in their birth order and the sentimental staple has been in Kate’s jewelry box since at least 2021.
The Princess of Wales wore the necklace just last week for a Sept. 4 visit to the Natural History Museum with Prince William, layered with another chain. The fashion statement was a cute tribute to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louise, 7, then, as the museum visit marked William and Kate’s return to royal duties following a summer break.
The Prince and Princess of Wales then stepped out together again on Sept. 8, visiting the Women’s Institute in Sunningdale on the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death.
